This is the end of a chapter. My playing days have officially come to an end. One of the best parts of this chapter was proving myself right. Proving myself right by not letting my 7 surgeries hold me back from playing college baseball. I was only able to get through this journey by the grace of God and the support from my mom, my family, and my teammates throughout all these years. I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to play this game for as long as I have. I am forever grateful for MY Wolfs, my TU teammates, and my Chatt Valley boys.

To my Wolfs-
I wish we had more time together. Carrollton will always have a special place in my heart and it’s because I know that I have made so many life long friends here. This year was the best year of my life. I’m going to miss all the dirty pile checks, the bus rides, all the great rounds of BP off the curveball machine, and stepping in between the lines with you guys. Can’t wait to come back and visit next year đŸ€ȘđŸ€ȘđŸ€Ș

Maintaining posture throughout the swing can be a great way to improve ball flight. Some hitters need to set more posture in their setup and maintain it as they make their positive move toward the baseball. Others may not need that cue. The goal is to consistently hit the ball hard with good ball flight. If you’re hitting the ball hard but consistently living on the ground pull side, try adjusting your posture in your setup and see how it changes your ball flight. by @fuzzyfurr11

It’s easy to say, “That was your best swing of the day,” to a hitter when it is the hardest ball they hit in a lesson. But the important thing is that the hitter needs to understand why that result showed up. Hitting the ball harder with good ball flight is a byproduct of consistently making good moves to and through contact. by @fuzzyfurr11

If your hands get too far behind your body when you get to your launch position, you’re going to have to over rotate to get the barrel to the baseball. When the hands launch from too far behind us, the barrel has to work around the body to get to contact. That makes it harder to stay through the baseball and can cause the hitter to hook around the ball and lose our direction. by @fuzzyfurr11

We want young hitters to be athletes. We want them to move fast and create bat speed, but the effort has to be created behind them. If they are launching from a good position but over rotate the chest, they will lose their direction through the zone. The goal isn’t just to move fast. It’s to create bat speed while maintaining their direction. by @fuzzyfurr11

VIDEO > NUMBERS
The better the moves look on video, the better the numbers will be. The more consistent the moves are on video, the more consistent the numbers will be. Being able to slow things down, identify flaws, and make adjustments on video is far more valuable than simply hitting balls hard in the cage. by @fuzzyfurr11

We have to control how we move into the ground to establish a consistent launch position. How each hitter gets into that position will vary, but the ability to consistently land in a good launch position is critical. How can we expect to be consistent in games if we aren’t consistently launching from the same spot every time? by @fuzzyfurr11

FRONT-END ADJUSTABILITY. The longer you can keep your barrel available to the baseball, the bigger a hitter’s margin of error becomes. The better front-end adjustability a hitter has, the better opportunity they have to do damage when they are just a click early with their timing. It also gives the hitter a better opportunity to stay on off-speed pitches. by @fuzzyfurr11

When a hitter starts to see their exit velocity increase, their natural reaction is to want MORE. But this is where hitters can get themselves in trouble. We have to stop trying to create more with our hands, arms, and upper body. If we put the effort in the wrong places, it’s going to throw off our bat path, direction, and timing. The goal isn’t to feel like you’re doing more. The goal is to feel like you are doing less with your body while hitting the ball hard consistently. by @fuzzyfurr11

Fast and left vs fast and behind and through. How fast you swing doesn’t mean much if you can’t maintain your direction. Our barrel needs to release to the middle of the field.  If you hold onto it for too long and don’t release your effort, you will pull up and off a lot of baseballs that you should have crushed. by @fuzzyfurr11

If I see a hitter who is tall with long arms, the first thing I look at is their setup in the box and where their body is at when they get into their launch position. We need space and room to work to get our swing off. Just because you had success two years ago with your toes on the white line doesn’t mean it works now that you’ve grown a foot. If you’re a hitter who swings a 34” bat, look at where you are setting up in the box. If you’re standing too close to the plate, you’re going to get attacked inside ALL DAY. Why? Because the pitcher wants to take away your space and make you fight against your own length. How a hitter sets up in the box is extremely important to their swing. by @fuzzyfurr11
