I loved the title of @betweenthelinesandspaces ‘s poem the other day so much that I used it to inspire a impromptu writing session with some of the crew from @hourglasscollaborative; it was a lovely moment of peace, inspiration and just breathing in the emotions that we all have been battling with...and thank you Laura Jean for checking in and making sure I took the moment and didn’t let it past. by @g.mbeki

Getting in the habit of posting these and working on them at night 🤦🏾‍♀️ but anyways here is Day 3 which is a prompt from @amykaypoetry in which you create an “Overhead” poem. I used a quote from the @overheardlelabo (my fave!) and I’m so happy I was able to discover Amy Kay’s account through reading @claramcgowan lovely “Overheard” poem. I hope mine does it justice. #NaPoWriMo #amykaypoemaday by @g.mbeki

It’s NATIONAL POETRY MONTH and not only am I celebrating with my students, I am also challenging myself to do a poem every day here. Some of them will be based around prompts from lovely poets like my faves: @claramcgowan @tristamateer @cgcpoems (just to name a few) and I will be posting prompts as well. Here is Day 1 (not really based on a prompt just something that was in my heart). Here is to #NaPoWriMo by @g.mbeki

Today I participated in @rupikaur_ IG Live Writers Workshop and her first prompt was to write a poem that was a letter. Only giving us the words “Dear [blank], I’ve been dying to tell you...” and then as we begun to write she gave us ten words we had to find a way to include into the poem as we wrote. This is what I came up with and not sure how it came together but it did. Let me know your thoughts. I will share what the ten words were in my stories. by @g.mbeki

I’ve been wanting to right this for awhile ever since I saw @tristamateer share her version of @cgcpoems original beautiful and inspiring piece - but coming out of the break up made it hard to be so reflective at the time, and honestly it’s still hard but putting it in words this way helps. So thank you Caitlin for helping so many find the words to help with their healing. That’s what being part of this community is all about. by @g.mbeki
