Another full Ironman in the books — 10:21.

Not sure yet if it was harder, or if I just knew what to expect.

The day itself sent me so many challenges I did not expect.

I’m proud of the effort; I couldn’t have done any better. To be honest, I left everything I had out there on the day. Digged deep

I accomplished 2 of the 4 goals I’d set for myself:
– Sub-4 marathon off the bike
– Levelled positioning in the 3 sports

More bricks than ever have been added to the wall this year.

The hero of the day tho is @vtwilkie for supporting me in everyday life

What if your visions worked out?

My 30s are hitting me hard and the fear if missing out is greater than ever. I don’t want to wonder what if, upholding to live without regret and jump when opportunities shows a path.

In the next 5 years (until I hit my 40s) there are so many things Idd like to accomplish, for my family, for myself , for my business @bkyrd.club . Scrolling down my old videos are a reminder of the path already setting a tone.

First DNS in my triathlon journey 🚫

Race got canceled as I was heading out on my bike activation this morning at the venue. Understandable with the massive storm coming in.

After procrastinating on signing up for IndianWells and missing out , I chose to come here after Worlds and to be fair Im felling even better than 2 weeks ago so this feels like a big big bummer.

Ive kind of put all my eggs in the same basket for this one, I knew the hard swim, flat bike and run would be a big opportunity for me to showcase my fitness at the moments.

I doubled down on recovery post Nice to be on top tomorrow… unfortunately it will have to wait. Since the announcement Ive been across layers of emotions. Ya it’s just a race , but it represents a lot of my lifestyle without saying my hole identity.

The positives ?
A stacked grocery hall at Trader Joes 🎃
A first 32onze iced latte 🫪
A great RoadTrip with B with new tricks 😎
Maybe the opportunity to race Indian Wells 👀
Chick Filet 🍗

Peace Out ✌️
Might go rogue on training the next few

BIKE CHECK 🇫🇷 Nice 70.3 Worlds Edition
Sponsored by @service.course & @trekraceshop

From the minute I had the qualifying spot, I started thinking about and testing different setups.

The goal was simple: make the bike as light as possible, since this course rewards W/kg.

That said, most of the question marks I had were around the wheel/tire setup and gearing.

Something I haven’t mentioned in the video that’s quite important in retrospect: both wheels were tubeless, but the front had a @vittoriatires FOAM insert. This allowed me to run a bit lower pressure without risking bottoming out the rim on the downhill sections in the city.

For context, I was hitting these at over 40 km/h and had to hold on for dear life. 😂 It passed the test.

I think I could have ridden the disc wheel, to be fair, but there was no more time to switch back to the right tire, etc.

I’m happy with the setup I ended up racing.

*Special shoutout to @hayden_wilde for his @sramroad setup. I didn’t even think about that one until I saw it.

How much should you actually ride your TT bike vs. your road bike?

The answer isn’t as straightforward as it might seem.

Since you’re racing on your TT bike, the bulk of your training hours should be spent on it.

If you’re new to riding a TT bike, a gradual transition, alternating between the two bikes every other ride, is a great approach.

To take it one step further, you could structure your rotation like this:

* One harder session on the TT bike
* One easy ride on the road bike
* One longer ride on the road
* One recovery ride on the TT

You can also play with the intensity and duration of each session, depending on your training phase and goals.

As you get closer to race day, 3-4weeks out, you can shift toward spending nearly all your riding hours on the TT bike, including recovery rides. Specificity is king!

What about indoor training during the winter?

TT bike all the way!

Training indoors allows you to lock into your aero position without the variables of riding outdoors. This is a great opportunity to build familiarity, comfort and consistency in your race position.

Personally, I still like to switch to my road bike every 10 or so workouts, usually for a short, easy spin, just to change things up.

At the end of the day, the goal is to become as efficient and comfortable as possible in your race position, while maintaining the versatility and handling skills that come with riding your road bike.

In 3 Months it will be 3 years SOBER

What started as a 1 year project ended up growing to this day.

The other side of the lens is now all sunshine, Im very conscious that there are other coping mechanisms involved, for me , its sport, endurance sport, triathlon, but this also does help me control and learn my emotions , or impulses a lot more.

My biggest downfall was when I had shoulder surgery in 2016, full stop of sports, painkillers took a rise and Alcool followed. Activity can really save someone by keeping him sane in the brain.

In 3 months Idd love to celebrate this somehow , still thinking on what would be meaningful?

Triathlon or Sober friends Any ideas ?
Maybe a @nonny.beer party 😛

For real tho

Theres a place for long breaks into rides and theres deep focus into training for endurance gains.

Although if your breaking so much so you can recover and smash all the KOMs to boost your EGO, we see you 😬
