Jazz Vàng (Golden Jazz) is a project by @slowznguyen and @dj.thamz, built on subtle wordplay. In Vietnamese, “Jazz” can echo the sound of “da” (skin), while “Vàng” means both yellow and gold.

The music video captures familiar scenes from everyday Vietnamese life from elderly people playing chess and dancing to local markets and roadside barbershops, evoking a space deeply rooted in the beauty of Vietnam.

Through both the song and its visuals, the artists celebrate Vietnam’s spirit, beauty, and cultural identity in a contemporary context. The track also samples a rare Vietnamese soul-jazz record from the 1970s, bridging musical heritage with modern hip-hop.

With layered metaphors woven through its lyrics and visuals, Jazz Vàng draws parallels between Vietnamese culture and the expressive spirit of jazz, creating something both authentic and relatable. Beyond music, the project also serves as a cultural bridge, introducing Vietnamese aesthetics and identity to a global audience through sound and visual storytelling.

-/-

Quện and mindspray started out as a one-sided internet love story.
He was one of the people who inspired Quện to make our very first mixsets. And three years later, thanks to the Hữu Duyên boys, this little cross-border online romance finally made its way into real life.
It was a sunny afternoon by the sea in Hội An — grown men with the souls of little kids, running around and having the time of their lives.
Somewhere in the background, mindspray, Thamz and KidNasty were playing music for us to play to.
We played music, and the music played us.
We played ball, but somehow, the ball never got to play us.
Basically, a team-building session in disguise, going by the name:
“Vinyl Session.” taken in Soul Kitchen Live Music by @g.thamz

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟬𝟭, 𝗕𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 @djnumark 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘃𝗶𝗻𝘆𝗹 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻.

Legendary Los Angeles-based DJ, turntablist, producer, crate digger and Jurassic 5 member DJ Nu-Mark — aka Uncle Nu — makes his Vietnam debut on Thursday, October 1, touching down at @blends_social_bar as part of his 2026 Asia tour.

A fixture of the West Coast turntablism and beat scene for decades, Nu-Mark has spent years digging through the crates and pushing the possibilities of the turntables and beyond, with sets and collaborations alongside Jazzy Jeff, The Beat Junkies, Invisible Scratch Pickles, Cut Chemist, DJ Shadow, Skratch Bastid and Koco. His production credits are equally expansive, having worked with Jurassic 5, Method Man, MF DOOM, Large Professor, Aloe Blacc, Charles Bradley and Del the Funky Homosapien, among others.

Founder of Hot Plate Records, the vinyl imprint dedicated to modern 7-inch releases, with a catalogue that has brought together the likes of Quantic, Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band, Jungle Fire, Full Crate, Traffic and Diamond D.

For Bamboogie, the night continues a series of sessions built around DJs, selectors and musicians who have shaped and inspired the world and our collective’s sound.
This one is about the records and giving our flowers to Uncle Nu for all that he has contributed to the global musical community.

Nu-Mark joins the @bamboogie_collective and friends for a night moving through the funkier reaches of Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk, Breaks, Disco, House and the spaces in between — from the first drop of the needle to the last record dug out from the crates, the boogie is guaranteed.

Our truly unmissable party at the end of July!!!
HỮU DUYÊN BAMBOOGIE
[ July 26, 2026 ]

Bamboogie is back in collobaration with the Huu Duyen fresh-tival — a unique event series by a local community united by a love for music, Hip Hop, street life, and Vietnamese culture; proudly supported and attended by a massive crowd from across Vietnam and international friends alike — @huuduyen_quatai
and we’re taking you on another trip back to vinyl funky heaven.

Sunday, July 26. Save the date and lock it in.

We’re bringing in 2 special vinyl heavyweights: Seoul/Soul brother #1, @mindspray , touching down alongside Hanoi’s own cornerstone, @kidnastyhl7. Two soulful selectors, one groove.

MINDSPRAY
Seoul-based digger, DJ, producer, and crate connoisseur. You might know him as DJ Spray, but once you hear him work, names don’t matter — only the vinyl warmth and story unfolding between the grooves. Spray is known worldwide for his soulful selection, musical story telling and skills on the decks and boards. Peep his YouTube and dive deep into a rabbit hole of analog vibrations. Truly one of our vinyl inspirations we’re blessed to have share his sound on the floor.

KID NASTY
A living pillar of Hanoi’s Hip-Hop community and culture — styles upon styles, and a presence that turns any floor into a congregation. Kid Nasty doesn’t just play records; he breathes through them with an infectious touch that will get you on the good foot. His groove is nasty in the best way — unpolished, honest, and dripping with feeling. A local legend who’s built bridges from Vietnam to the world and back, and every time he steps up, he leaves the floor lifted.

Another all vinyl, all love, family affair supported by an all star selection of selectors from @huuduyen_quatai and the @bamboogie_collective
@dj.thamz
@jazzcatluong
@smallmouse196
@dfreshdressed
@pele.durianfunk

Don’t sleep on this one fam, we taking you higher.
Sunrise coming up on the beach, down the street higher.

Early arrival suggested, boogie guaranteed.
Free for the people.

Big love,
Bamboogie Collective by @g.thamz
