Lilly always wants to be on the move now that she is free of those mats, but she mostly just walks back and forth or in some sort of pattern like she is mapping out her environment. She loves when she can get Chance to walk with her so she has someone to follow around. It’s been so rainy from the gulf hurricane, so she was doing her laps in the barn while we had a Harry Potter marathon in the movie room.

It took us roughly 5 hours but we got all of the matted fur cut away, trimmed her nails down, and gave her a bath. The more we cut away, the worse it got. It was so upsetting to know that she was living like that for potentially 12 months or longer. Part 2 coming soon…

September is Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month.

I don’t have nearly as many pictures of us growing up as I wish I did. Our childhood was chaotic, and back then nobody was constantly taking pictures, so most of what I have left lives in memories. Losing you to suicide is different. There are too many questions and never enough answers. Every day is hard, man. I don’t get to escape missing you because every morning I wake up and there are two little versions of you living in my house. Selfishly, sometimes I wish I could’ve just been Uncle. I wish I was picking your girls up for a weekend of adventures, spoiling them, loading them up with sugar and dropping them back off at your house for you to deal with. Instead, I became Dad. I love those girls more than I could ever explain, but I wish you were here to be their dad. Substance abuse is brutal. It changes people, destroys relationships and convinces people they’re alone when they’re not. I’ll probably always wonder what else I could’ve done. I wish I could’ve helped more, but at the time all I knew how to do was be there and answer when you called. I hate that Facebook is basically the only place I have left to talk to you because your phone number doesn’t work anymore. I wish talking about pain was normal. I wish people could simply say, “I’m not okay,” without feeling weak or ashamed. So if you’re reading this and fighting something privately, please tell somebody. I don’t care how badly you’ve screwed up, how many times you’ve relapsed, or how much of a burden you think you are.

We would rather have you here being a pain in our ass than have to visit you at a cemetery.

I miss you, buddy.

I promise I’ll give these beautiful girls the childhood we never had. I’ll be there through the good and bad, and I’ll make damn sure they always know who their dad was, how much you loved them, and how much of you lives inside them.

I love you, brother. I wish you were still here.

Happy 14th birthday to my beautiful niece, Madi Bugg! ❤️🎉

It’s hard to believe you’re already 14. Watching you grow up and become the amazing young lady you are today has been something really special. I’m so proud of the person you’ve become. Your heart, your personality, your strength, and just the way you carry yourself.

@g8torsteve had the absolute best idea to upcycle those pink one time use helium tanks that you can buy for birthday parties into one of those bullet things from Mario Bros. A little super glue and Mario looks like he is riding through the Mario Kart track! Now all we need is to mount it on the wall.

Has anyone else tried turning them into something you can reuse? 👇🏼
