5 years.

That’s how long @leojonathas and I have been working together.

Leo is living proof that consistency, patience, and showing up week after week are what build an incredible physique.

Over the past 5 years, he’s added 40 lbs of muscle to his frame. Not through shortcuts or quick fixes, but through years of training hard, staying committed, and trusting the process.

Building muscle takes time. It doesn’t happen overnight. But here’s the thing, time is going to pass anyway. Five or six years from now, you can either be grateful you started today or wish you had.

Leo, I’m incredibly grateful for your friendship and for the trust you’ve placed in me over these past five years. It’s been an honor to be part of your journey, and I’m proud of everything you’ve accomplished.

Here’s to the next chapter. 💪🏻

Squats are great. They’re just not doing everything for your quads.

The rectus femoris crosses both your hip and knee joint so when your hip is flexed (like in a squat), it can’t generate full tension at the knee.

Leg extensions isolate that joint action, so this muscle actually gets to work.

Add leg extensions in if quad size is the goal.

Cooper and I started working together in March with one clear goal: to get back in shape and build an athletic physique, and that’s exactly what we achieved.

Now that the cutting and recomposition phase is complete, we’re shifting our focus toward adding more size to his frame. I can’t wait to see how far we can take his physique from here.

Thank you for your discipline, consistency, and trust in me throughout the process. We’re just getting started! 💪

Everyone’s obsessed with ‘muscle confusion’ switching exercises every week so your body ‘doesn’t adapt.’

Problem is, adaptation is literally the goal. That’s how you get stronger and build muscle.

If you swap your main lifts every week, you never get enough reps at that movement to actually get better at it. Better technique, more weight on the bar, more reps. You’re always starting over.

Progressive overload needs a stable exercise to measure against. You can’t tell if you’re improving on barbell squats if you’re doing goblet squats one week and leg press the next.

Rule of thumb: keep your main compound lifts for 6–12 weeks minimum. Rotate accessories if you want variety, that’s fine.

But your bread-and-butter lifts stay put until progress actually stalls

Quads don’t grow if you don’t give them a reason to grow.

For years, I thought my quads were just a weak body part. But looking back, the truth is much simpler: I wasn’t as committed to training them as I was to the rest of my body.

At the beginning of my lifting journey, I neglected my legs. There were times I’d even skip leg day altogether. And even when I did train them, I wasn’t really focused on progressing. I’d do the workout, get a good pump, and move on.

Eventually, I realized that I couldn’t expect my quads to grow if I wasn’t giving them a reason to.

So I changed my approach.

I started treating leg day with the same importance as every other workout. I focused on progressive overload, proper execution, training close to failure, and most importantly, consistency. And over time, they changed.

There was no secret exercise. No magic program. Just years of actually prioritizing something I had neglected for too long.

This is also something I remind my clients all the time:

Before blaming genetics or calling something a “weak body part,” ask yourself if you’re truly giving that muscle the same effort, attention and consistency you give your strongest ones.

Sometimes your weakest body part is simply the one you haven’t prioritized enough.

Left: neglected
Right: prioritized.

Still plenty of room to improve, but definitely proud of the progress

Your chest press setup is costing you reps.

Bringing the dumbbells straight up from your lap (too close to your body) kills your leverage before you even start the set.

You end up muscling it up instead of pressing it.

Fix: rest the dumbbells on your knees → lean back as you extend your elbows → let the momentum swing them into position → press.

Small setup change, way smoother first rep.

📌 Save this for your next push day

Most plateaus aren’t genetic. They’re not “your ceiling.”

They happen because the stimulus stopped changing. Same weight, same reps, same sets, month after month. No new demand on the muscle = no reason to adapt further.

The fix isn’t complicated:

→ Add weight
→ Add reps
→ Add a set
→ Improve execution (tempo, ROM, control)

Rotate between these instead of just chasing heavier weight every session.

Save this for your next plateau and follow so you don’t miss the next one. 💪

Can you lose fat and build muscle at the same time? 🤔

Short answer: yes, but it depends on where you’re starting from.

Research shows recomposition is most achievable for beginners, people returning to training, and those with higher body fat when eating in a slight-to-moderate deficit with high protein intake (1.6-2.2g/kg) and consistent progressive overload.

If you’re already lean and years into training, recomp still happens, just much slower.

Bottom line: don’t let ‘you can’t do both’ stop you from trying, but don’t expect bulk-level gains while cutting either. Manage expectations.
