The virtual Homes by Architects Tour is live now through Sunday, October 4. Explore three architect-designed homes only available to see online, including Home 3 “Lake Minnetonka Island Cottage,” designed by @aharchitecture.

On a roadless island in Lake Minnetonka, this family retreat makes room for generations to gather while fitting into a historic community of modest homes. Its H-shaped design connects shared living spaces to both the lake and a courtyard, with modest bedrooms, built-in guest beds, and plenty of room for the gear that comes with lake life. Warm and memorable spaces rooted in craftsmanship, proportion, and connection to place support family gatherings and the informal rhythms of lake life.

This year, the virtual tour features:
• 3D, interactive tour of Homes 1, 2, and 3
• Video content of Homes 1 and 2, including an architect interview and a guided narrated digital tour
• Guided annotated tour of Home 3
• Photo galleries of all 12 tour homes

The virtual tour experience is exclusive to ticket holders through October 4, 2026. It is included in all ticket types. ➡️ If you purchased a ticket online, you will find the password in your ticket purchase confirmation email. The password is also on pages 5, 7, 8, 11–13, and 32 in the guidebook you receive during the in-person tour weekend.

Still need a ticket? A low-cost, virtual-only ticket is available. Get yours now at the link in our bio.

Here is a highlight selection from a dream project. The @trlibrary is a place where the legacy of an unprecedented president allowed dreams to flourish. I got to spend 2 all access days documenting the one of a kind building in the heat of the August sun.

Thank you to @h_window_company for the opportunity.
Thank you @caitjaneo for the assist.
Thank you @snohetta for being dreamers and inspiring people to dream. taken in Medora, North Dakota by @gafferphoto

From golden hour to blue hour, this project was all about light, scale, and symmetry.

Designed by the late Rafael Viñoly, the National Medal of Honor Museum is a powerful architectural tribute.

We’re proud to have documented this space in a way that honors its presence and intent.

This bold library expansion by MSR Design reimagines what a public library can be — blending nature, learning, and innovation under one roof 🌿📚
Tucked into the hillside, the new addition creates a welcoming courtyard and offers something for everyone:
🎭 A 700-seat event center
🎮 A teen lounge + gaming zone
🎧 Audio/video recording studios
🤖 Robotics + simulation labs
🍳 A teaching kitchen + community deli
📸 A photography + VR studio
🧒 Expanded youth and children’s spaces
It’s not just a library — it’s a community hub built for connection, creativity, and the future.

🏳️‍🌈 In honor of Pride Month, we’re proud to share a project close to our hearts: the new Family Tree Clinic — a welcoming, affirming space built for the LGBTQ+ community in the Twin Cities and beyond.
For over 50 years, Family Tree has provided reproductive and sexual health services to those who need it most. But long waitlists and outdated facilities limited their reach. This new home changes that.
Designed with dignity, safety, and joy at the forefront, the building embodies belonging. It offers privacy for patients, daylight-filled spaces for community, and long-term roots in a neighborhood it proudly serves.
The impact is already felt: 10,000 more patients served annually. Faster pediatric access. A space that says: you matter. @perkinswill_min

What happens when you turn a decommissioned monorail into a journey through the treetops?
Snow Kreilich Architects partnered with the Minnesota Zoo to reimagine an aging infrastructure into the Treetop Trail- a 1.25-mile elevated walkway that immerses visitors in forest canopies, connects exhibits, and opens up new views of the Zoo’s landscape.
Originally tasked with a feasibility study, Snow Kreilich led a visionary transformation that sparked a successful campaign and drew together an expert team—including Buro Happold, TEN x TEN, Meyer Borgman Johnson, and more.
Certified SITES® Silver and boasting 2,200 more daily visitors in its first year, this trail is more than a path—it’s a bridge between people, animals, and the natural world. 🌿

Designed by Design Fugitives, this next-gen commons at Carthage College features a sculptural installation that’s more than just a centerpiece—it’s woven into the life of the space. Set against the backdrop of Lake Michigan, the design invites students to gather, perform, relax, and look up in wonder.
Material: milled wood planks.

Fun House by Snarkitecture reimagines the traditional home through an abstract, playful lens. Installed at the National Building Museum and curated by Maria Cristina Didero, the interactive exhibition invites visitors to explore domestic spaces—like cabinets and bathtubs—transformed into unexpected, surreal experiences. Designed as a freestanding house, every room blurs the line between art, architecture, and imagination.
