Since moving into our custom made space, shout out @nbbjdesign, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting different organizations from all over the community!

Most recently, the Harvard Club of Seattle, including some alumni from MIT and other IvyPlus folks got together one Sunday afternoon for a little socializing, a demo by the fabulous @larinechung, and some life drawing.

Did you know that was an option for you and your group? If you’re looking for a space to host your next event, Gage may be the perfect fit for you. Our space is transformable but still full of the work and materials of the artists who study here, so it doesn’t feel like a rented room.

We had Pamela Belyea dig through her files for pictures from the early days and what she found was a young Anthony Ryder taking a still life painting class with Martha Mayer Erlebacher in 1994 and the final product.

Tony Ryder is a longtime friend and instructor of Gage. We’ve had the privilege of learning with him and from him since 1993. It’s a real treat that every year, Tony comes back to Seattle to give us insight and techniques that will ultimately further our craft as artists.

This December he’s teaching an Intro to Portrait Drawing workshop that’s perfect for folks of all-levels, especially if you’re interested in more intensive technique development. There are only 3 spots left to join him, so jump on that fast!

Taking this class is significantly better than sitting in traffic stuck on the 5 or in the 99 tunnel 🐌 This Brush Hour is a beginning charcoal drawing class welcoming students of all ages and families with Instructor @willowbader ✨

At The Luminous Flower workshop, Instructor @dominiquemediciart will help you gain practical processes that you can use in future paintings. From photo or from life, take a moment to observe subtle shifts in light and temperature, then refine the details 🌼

Spend a quaint afternoon at the Seattle Asian Art Museum with Instructor Rebecca Dvorin Strong. You’ll learn how to materialize your drawing with a real sense of form and figure while also getting to be immersed in and inspired by rich Asian art 💫

Let your environment inspire you as you work with Instructor @redochreartstudio to create strong compositions of Northwest Landscapes 🏞️🏞️🏞️

We partnered with @mohaiseattle to explore the history of Lake Union through photos, ephemera, and drawings.

Core Drawing and Encaust Painting instructor, @willowbader met up with community folks by Lake Union to sketch the lake at different stages through history. Swipe through to see the classes interpretations 👉👉👉

My demo painting from my last encaustic workshop, Into The Landscape, at Gage Academy of Art in Seattle.

My next encaustic painting workshop @gageacademy will be December 5th and 6th. The focus will be monochromatic painting in encaustic. Sometimes simplifying the palette, the colors used, can be helpful when trying a new medium
