‘MANTIS’ (2026) Costume Making Journey🧵🪡

Much gratitude to have contributed to the process of breathing life into ‘MANTIS’ through clothes alongside @english_samurai 🤲🏽.

‘MANTIS’ is another original dance production by BABA YAYA Dance Company that is based on the Xhoi-San trickster deity known as Mantis. This incredible work explores themes of creation, mortality, power, prayer and enduring spirit of humanity, and draws inspiration from San mythology.

WORK meets PLAY

Gain collective has grown through the determination and dedication of Chesney and Emile. Through countless nights in studios improving together and creating choreography that tells stories. Their unique style embodies a multitude of genres that they have learnt over the years especially over their time at Jazzart Dance Theatre company.
