Reflecting, ‘23 was the best & one of the hardest years of my adult life. I loved deeper than I’ve ever loved, laughed harder than I’ve ever laughed, played more as an adult than I’ve ever played & found myself inspired by being a partner & protector. I learned happiness is only real when shared. I learned planning unlocks incredible freedom. I learned I was less reliable than I thought & that to be reliable I must show up consistently. I saw myself as a man not a kid for the first time. It’s amazing how much shifts when this happens! I saw my elder & my grandma dying speak some of their last words. I saw my other grandma start her final chapter & mi tío suffer in cancer & pain. I hired & fired good people. I fell deeper in love with my best friend as we played, traveled, opened our hearts, homes, & uninhibited truest selves to each other, fed each other’s curiosity & courage, pushed each other to be better, fought, & made up fast. I hurt her too, short on empathy, stubborn, afraid of the loss that comes with commitment rather than all that’s gained. I pursued my path & blew up what I knew for it. I made hard choices for an easy life rather than easy choices for a hard life. Only to find I don’t want what I thought I did & life is still hard. I saw the best of my friends in my lowest moments & the worst of myself in my highest moments. I traveled the country, lived in SD, VT & SF, felt the spirits move me to tears in Zion&Oahu, & got to build two businesses close to home in VT. Only to find they pulled me away from where my heart was. I learned my home is in the love & companionship of those I love & by the ocean in the sun. I took what I had for granted. I sacrificed everything to discover I don’t want to. I learned to trust my gut & found faith the universe has a plan for us even when it’s unconventional & hurts. I learned I need to practice the art of running downhill & not create mountains to climb, because there are plenty I’ll need to climb. I was reminded to fight hard for what I believe, to cherish moments of energy & love when they come, & that to lead with love when things don’t go your way is the hardest & the only thing we can do that’s always right. by @galengkm

It was awesome to present at @plugandplaytc Silicon Valley Summit last week (thanks PnP team!). Very exciting to have leaders from the world’s largest CPGs (PepsiCo, Coca Cola, Mars, etc) leaned in listening and thinking about how @greenchoice.pbc can help them measure and improve their products health & sustainability impacts. Feb ‘24: Celebrating my brother @dosesandmimoses & @ojroth 30th birthdays in Cabo! It was such an honor to be included in the closest and most beautiful of ways, with a great group of friends. Moses and I have been best friends and brothers for 23 years now. We share dreams and parents. From a tiny town in Vermont to the other side of the country in San Diego, to this luxury vacation in Cabo. This was a surreal celebration of his life and all he (and we) have accomplished to get to where we are today. It left me incredibly grateful for our friendship, brotherhood, and circumstances.

Why photos from the past? I’m going back in time to catch up to present. The past 16 months have taught and gifted me so much. I’ve taken many photos along the way but shared very few and posted none. I want to now— to immortalize them for my own memory as a reminder of all the beauty God has given me along with pain (no I’ve not found god in the traditional sense, but I have found deep faith in the universe and a greater something I call ~God) and to share with you, my friends and family. I was a 22 year old graduate student when I learned about Juneteenth.
I went to public school, Montessori school, a top prep school, and Brandeis University.

I learned about Juneteenth from a black friend who was celebrating the holiday. Even though he was celebrating the day, he joked about it as a holiday.

Our country is failing him and our youth.

Our education system is failing us.

We need more black teachers.
We need more white teachers who teach black history.

As a Jew, I‘ve been taught our history is the key to our future. When we don’t teach African American history and black history to our kids, we hurt the future of our country.

My kids will learn about Juneteenth on the first June 19th that they can understand English, as we celebrate with my brothers & sisters.
