This time last year, I added a couple days in Salt Lake City before two other events. It was wonderful to tackle a couple beautiful hikes, spend quality time with my sister in merch Alisha, before heading to Las Vegas for Best Friends Forever Fest ‘25 and a mini trip with Amy Bruni for her Food to Die For book tour. There were haunted artifacts... more on that later.

9/12-9/19, 2025

One of the busiest weeks last September, started with a dinner date with some of my favorite gals. Later that night I was scooped up by friends to start making our way to @drekkerbrewing in Fargo, ND for their version of Octoberfest.

Along with taking home some of their fancy beer that reminded me of Framboise, I also picked up two of my most worn merch items.

Near the end of the concert, a staff member @whitney_myhra stopped by. I complimented her fun earrings and asked her about the photo buttons that I had seen staff wearing. They were photos of a team member who had recently passed from cancer. My heart sank as I thought of her and friends throwing a big party for their brewery and missing an important part of their team. Then my mind flipped through my own experiences with losing a colleague to cancer in January. She was my mentor, friend, and only 46.

I asked a couple more questions about Whitney’s friend, who sounded like such a cool lady. I thanked her and I shared that I had a similar experience that year and that I knew it was gonna be hard for a while, especially going to work some days, knowing they won’t be there. I encouraged her to keep talking about her friend and sharing stories. It would be important tell her coworkers if she was having a tough time. They might be too. (We exchanged info and still check in from time to time.)

The next morning, I took a “hike to Minnesota” and inadvertently found a reconstruction of a stave church. 🤓

On the long drive home, I thought about my interaction with Whitney. I had just been there to sell merch and hang with friends. But maybe this brief conversation was why I was supposed to be in Fargo.

The drive back was a good one with knitting, chatting and listening to the new MCS album.

We filled the next week with games, dinners, a couple more gigs, seeing the Wiener Mobile, an in-store signing at @downinthevalley and a show at the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis. by @gallywas

I happened to see Erica’s post asking if anyone wanted to go to Oasis with her the next day.

Bought a last minute ticket for less than 12 hours later and got to spend some time in the sunshine with @ericarules and her wonderful friends, some sweet pups, and neighbors.

In our wild luck, @laymer and I were in the same section of the Rose Bowl so we got a bit of bonus hangs too. If I remember correctly, Brian’s brother and wife were flying home from Singapore and opted to buy tickets for the show, which happened to be right next to Brian and his husband. We were all together sharing this experience and basking in Erica’s love and hospitality.

I flew home early the next morning and saw one of the most beautiful sunrises, over the mountains, while passing over the ocean, and through clouds.

Spent the rest of the day assisting on set for the @motioncitysoundtrack Particle Physics music video. Learned a dance sequence, made some new friends, and wrangled some old. Glad I could lend a hand and also be a part of the final video.

About my last 48 of 72 hours in the UK, June 2026

While delayed into Manchester I still managed to catch Joyce Manor, Algernon Cadwallader, @thefrontbottoms and my friends at work. (It was still 95 degrees in the venue post show.)

Later, I would make two valiant attempts to split the G and ate late night food from KFC. Our crew stayed up chatting until dawn.

Back to London by train after a brief snooze, then off to Hyde Park to visit my friend working at the Garth Brooks concert.

I met Takumi’s friend Jessica, who also happened to be in town. Together we watched the set and sang along. While I don’t know country music well, growing up with the radio meant that I knew several of his songs. The concert sounded great and what an incredible showman and talented musicians.

Even with a long return trip to my hotel, it was a beautiful night and I hadn’t crossed the Millennium Bridge yet. I changed and set out around midnight, completing a 3 mile hike by 2am.

After an early flight home to MN, unpacked and headed to St. Paul to catch Kurt Vile and friends at the Palace. It was a great way to bookend an already epic weekend of art, music, and friendship. taken in Hyde Park, London by @gallywas

I recently saw a trailer for Sacrifice, an upcoming film by @romaingavras The film’s sights and sounds seem to include elements also found in the GENER8ION: VISIONS OF 2034 exhibition held at @180.studios by the same Director and Music Producer @surkin

The #Gener8ion exhibit was the catalyst for my first trip to the UK in June. With my luck in motion, my solo trip quickly turned into plans to visit a second exhibit, meeting up with several friends from the US working events in London and Manchester, and scheduling a concert for each night.

I have helped to produce a few music videos (with significantly smaller budgets) and still send ideas to friends about making more and screenplays. At the same time, I continue to wonder about the viability of music videos in general. When Storm came out, it was invigorating to say the least.

I loved the mirrored dance in white shirts played beside the original Storm II. The choreography by @damienjalet was mesmerizing.

After several trains, I took a quick hike to the Strand area to catch the exhibit in the quiet, cool and dark 180 Studios.

Later that night, I caught @balanceandcomposure play at The Dome and made it back to Soho for a late dinner. It was thankfully only 75 degrees by the time I got my ramen. 🥵

The next day, Takumi and I visited the Wes Anderson Archives at the Design Museum before I left to catch a train to Outbreak Fest in Manchester. Not bad for the first 24 hours of 72. taken in London, United Kingdom by @gallywas

On this day last year (7/19), Minnesota Yacht Club Festival had a surprise change in lineup for @motioncitysoundtrack due to Justin being sick. The result of friends stepping up to help and a lot of work by the band and crew resulted in one of the most memorable days at the festival.

The day also included celebrating @heatherstoffels birthday, singing and dancing along to @weezer with the fam, dinner with some of the best folks I know, and closing the night with @falloutboy and all their hits.

Life wouldn’t be the same without even one of these people in my life. #minnesotayachtclubfestival taken in Harriet Island Regional Park by @gallywas

The summer solstice has arrived and gone. The summer is stretched out before us and will quickly pass us by. I hope we can create some lasting memories and connections before it does.

From winter to summer solstice, my experience living in Minnesota and traveling across the country and Japan has included: Grief, joy, fear, love, tears, wonder, luck, music, laughter, adventure, sadness, dancing, creation, connections, and gratitude.

Working hard, volunteering, and finding and making moments of joy and wonder, felt as imperative as supporting impacted communities and neighbors.

When all feels lost, we just have to keep taking care of each other, as best we can.

From my heart to yours, I wish you well.

Thanks for all the birthday messages last week and to those who were able to join me to celebrate.

The messages were sincerely appreciated and a beautiful reminder of each connection we have made and kept.

Here is to another year of leading with my heart, showing up for friends and fam, luck in motion, managing to fit in all the things and catching a sunset from time to time.

We have another BEAUTIFUL 2025 @52hikechallenge finisher feature!! Check out @gallywas Tiffany and her full of heart inspiration!

🔸️ What motivated/inspired you to take part in the 52 Hike Challenge?
"My friend Jenny shared that she was finishing her 52 Hike Challenge in 2024 and I was so excited for her to accomplish another goal. The timing also coincided with my desire to be outdoors more often but without a huge commitment of time or money."

🔸️ What are you looking forward to, now that you’ve accomplished 52 hikes?
"I want to share how the challenge positively impacted my health and wellbeing in case it might help other hikers in some way. Not only did the challenge add more movement to my existing workout routine, it also gave me an outlet to help with processing my grief after a close friend and colleague passed away after a long illness. She was 46. Each hike was a gift to be in nature, even if it included subzero temperatures and howling winds. I could pause to appreciate being present and was often gifted by something beautiful that I would have missed had I not taken on the challenge."

🔸️ What is one piece of advice you’d give someone who is thinking of doing the 52 Hike Challenge themselves?
"Sign up and then go chase a sunset! Sunsets are one of the few things that make me slow down and be present. If you worry about finding time, try checking the weather forecast and finding the time the sun sets in your area. The time limitation for me was motivation to organize my time or stop what I was doing and take a break with a sunset as a reward!

🔸️ What is your favorite thing about the 52 Hike Challenge?
"Traveling to visit friends and watch concerts is already one of my favorite things, I have started exploring local hikes as I travel. I even added a trip to Salt Lake City, UT prior to a three day music festival in downtown Las Vegas. The 52 Hike Challenge made me understand that I would be more prepared mentally for a busy weekend in a busy city if I could be in and around beautiful natural elements like mountains and trails!"

We LOVE that you chased your passions and found even more joy for the outdoors doing it 2025, Tiffany!! 🎉CONGRATS!🎉 taken in Minnesota by @gallywas

Sunday (12/21) @the_gradwell_house Arbor Christmas Show

It was fun to surprise a few friends and new acquaintances from Poponipalooza in June and the Best Friends Forever Fest in October. I wasn’t sure I would be able to make it so I only told a couple people that I might make it.

Watched @matt_weber play in 4 more bands for a total of 5 in 24 hours, in two states. This surpassed a record held by @hi.tomryan with 3 bands in 24 hours, in two time zones. 🏆

I enjoyed some nog and chats in the kitchen and picked up some artwork by @brianmietz before a brief stroll in Haddon Heights and heading home for the night.

It was sincerely a gift to experience and hear these holiday tunes live. I appreciate all who made it happen and the community this group has created. It’s pretty special. taken in The Gradwell House by @gallywas
