Last Friday we had our first session of the STAND Ideas Collective Incubator. 💡 The excellent session was led by Aisling Burke of the @galwayideaslab, and focused on Impact and Possibility. The team dug deep to find the purpose under their solution, created a working purpose statement, looked at the values which underpin their endeavour, and sketched out their intended impact. It was also the first time Cork, Dublin and Galway awardees met each other. Here is to many sessions ahead full of connection, learning and social innovation! The Ideas Collective is supported through Pobal’s @newsolutionshub, co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union, alongside support from @irish.aid @lorenzo_cheasty, @alexmcardle32, @florah.nyirenda, @how__rad, @aoife2317, @zizi_ntobongwana, @arpeec, @leahmcgealy, @catherine.grehan @iamjoanhenry The Ideas Collective is supported through Pobal’s New Solutions Fund, co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union, alongside support from @irish.aid #stand #ireland #socialenterprise Diverse group of smiling workshop participants and facilitators standing in a bright meeting room in front of a presentation screen that reads "STAND Ideas Collective", celebrating the end of a collaborative session. by @galwayideaslab

From waste to possibility! This week, IdeasLab teamed up with @an.mheitheal.rothar for an Upcycling Hackathon as part of Sustainable Development Goals Week. Four multidisciplinary teams tackled real-world challenges, transforming discarded bicycle materials into creative prototypes and pitching their ideas to the judges. 🥇 Winners – Dylan, Ella, Mayank & Annette: Exploring how discarded inner tubes and other waste materials could be repurposed into sleeping mats. 🥈 Runners-up – Damien, Katie, Nishita & Eabha: Exploring how bicycle parts could assist with wheelchair propulsion an early-stage concept requiring further development and safety assessment. A huge well done to all the students for their creativity, teamwork and willingness to experiment! 👏 And a big thank you to Cathy and the team at An Mheitheal Rothar for sharing their expertise and welcoming us into their workshop. 🍕🚲 #IdeasLab #Upcycling #SDGWeek #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #Innovation #StudentInnovation taken in An Mheitheal Rothar (Galway's Bike Workshop) by @galwayideaslab
