Last Friday we had our first session of the STAND Ideas Collective Incubator. 💡 The excellent session was led by Aisling Burke of the @galwayideaslab, and focused on Impact and Possibility. The team dug deep to find the purpose under their solution, created a working purpose statement, looked at the values which underpin their endeavour, and sketched out their intended impact. It was also the first time Cork, Dublin and Galway awardees met each other. Here is to many sessions ahead full of connection, learning and social innovation! A hackathon built by students, for students. FutureHack by @innovationireland 80+ young people from across Ireland to PorterShed to tackle real challenges facing Galway, using technology, STEM and entrepreneurship to turn ideas into practical solutions. Huge credit to Johnathan Mcphilbin, Lukas Lydon and the Innovation Ireland team for creating the event, and to every student, mentor, judge and sponsor who made the day happen. The turnout says plenty: there’s a real appetite among young people for opportunities to build, experiment and solve real problems. The winning team explored how data and heat-map visualisation could help Galway plan future infrastructure and development, even speaking with local councillors to strengthen their idea. Supported by PorterShed, @sirensearch and @galwayideaslab, alongside mentors and judges: Dushyant Singh, Rosemary Gallagher, Aisling Burke Aoife Maher, Patrick Byrne, Gavin Doyle, Alex O'Mahony.
