Me & this fella I just picked up decided to go on a nice date night the other eve. #vegandatenight

Welcome @folde_restaurant to the chat, I’ve been meaning to visit for a minute but OH LORD. We weren’t ready! So so so good, shooketh good, you know what actually GREAT.

What we drank;
Apricot Mezcal Sour
Mezcal, Apricot Liquer, Rhubarb
- RUINED like absolutely destroyed this drink. So so delicious please always serve this.

Chilli Marg
Rooster Rojo Tequila, Cointreau, Chilli
- very correct. Exactly what I’m looking for in a chilli marg tbh.

Cherry Mai Tai
Appleton Estate Rum, Luxardo Maraschino, Disaronno, Cointreau, Almond
- sorry to say I’d rather slap my mum (who I love) more than drink this again, however Mo really loved it. I guess if you like cherry it’ll be for you xo

What we ate;

Smols;

House Focaccia
Hot Potato Crisps, Masala
Folde Romesco, Almond & Guajillo Chilli Crisp

Bigger;

Spiced Courgette Fritti, Coriander Chutney, Coconut Labneh
Crispy Aubergine, Curry Butter Sauce, Pickled Cabbage Slaw, Peanuts

10/10 would smash it alllll again but the stand outs were the focaccia & romesco to start and the crispy aubergine actually surprised me how foookin good it was!

Anyway if you’re about to have a nice date night and love good food (xtra points if ya vegan) this is THE spot I would recco xoxo

What does a vegan eat on safari?
Turns out the answer is ALOT. 😆

We stayed at two safari “camps” on this trip Rattrays @malamalagamereserve in Mala Mala followed by a tented camp in Ngala which is part of @andbeyondngala @andbeyondtravel growing company who are doing really amazing things.

I honestly don’t know where to start with the amount I ate and all kinds of dishes I tried. I guess I’d like to say how pleasantly surprised I was with all the dairy substitutes. As someone who was fortunate to safari as a kid I don’t remember so many substitutes being available back then so that was a big win.

Both teams were amazing in asking me what I actually wanted and being flexible around cravings aswelll as food aversions (no slimey mushrooms for me please!)

This post is really just to show our lifestyle choices don’t have to mean limitations. Having a big heart doesn’t mean you don’t get to see the world in all of its glory. The beauty is, whilst I enjoy a dairy substitute, notice there wasn’t a meat substitute in sight, meaning I was really able to taste and notice natures abundance and diversity in flavours from good old fashion veg!

Time flys when you’re having fun so I just wanted to take a beat to appreciate life lately in moments.

1. celebrating my partners birthday eating west African fine dining. had a wine flight too and somehow didn’t get a hangover #winning
2. Early birthday celebrations in the Cotswolds for the mr; fancy beetroot dish & great views
3. Making a pickle flight with @eastldnvegan and having a good old catch up with the queen.
4. Enjoying my fav kombucha company @momokombucha in the sunshine post gym as a daily ritual
5. Discovering a new Korean spot delivers to me &&& has loads of labelled vegan dishes!! - kimchijeon is up there in my top 10 fav foods too 🥹
6. Made one of the best batters of my life and @smashleighray convinced me to batter and fry some @perellofoods olives (gifted) - great fucking decision
7. Local Thai spot @kaosarntooting pad Thai and a beer with my babes after a long day
8. My friends moved out their flat and it was an end of an era, @smashleighray made a full spread, we all got drunk and I never wanted to leave
9. We did the pexico (Mexican food in Peckham) taco crawl, only made a couple stops and had the best fucking time I recommend it to everyone *vid included a non vegan op too sorry - message me if you want deets on which of the Mexican spots I’ve already hit and how I rate them - 10/10 fun eve out with mates

Fancy a stuffed date flight?

Honestly recently my sweet tooth has been ravenous but I’m trying to hit those cravings with whole foods first when possible. @verenaskitchen kindly gifted me a couple of their nut butters which are all made with 3-5 ingredients tops! Keeping nut butters what they should really be - NUTS!! What’s crazy is how creamy and decadent these nut butters are! They taste like literal puddings in a jar.

To enjoy them even more I decided to make some little post gym snacks / a date flight, flavours including;

🍓Strawberry & cashew cookie date
🫐Pistachio gelato & blueberry date
🍌Pecan pie & banana date

All dipped in some melted dark chocolate with chunky almonds & sprinkled with a little @Malden for good luck.

Really saved me from some 4pm hanger & went down a treat with friends!

Stocked to the max with so many goodies, smaller brands, great taste awards & everything you could need for summer. #gifted

Got inspired by the courgette seeds that were in the box with the goodies and made “battered courgette fingers” on a creamy mustardy base (using @diddlysquat.farmshop beer mustard) topped with @ottolenghi_at_home Kalamata olive and Harrisa sauce

The rest of the table really just worked around this dish keeping it light and picky for them summer vibes;
* Cucumber, seasonal tomato & basil 🍅🥒
* @helloblanconino_uk crisps
* @perellofoods chilli olives (which we battered and fried half of after this 😂) 🫒🫒
* Crispy kale 🥬

Needless to say @ocadouk x @gifta_uk you did me good and really helped pull together a perfect vibe for a summer eve with my besti @smashleighray

From twilight references to vegan pizza I don’t know why I was so hesitant with this Scotland share.

I guess it’s because there’s not really any exciting vegan reco’s for places to eat, but sometimes that’s the reality on a road trip. We don’t always have time for diversions to that one impressive vegan spot hidden in the hills an hour off course, AND THATS OK. @costacoffee has a dece staple I go to on road trips and my family was more than accommodating!! Plus sometimes I don’t actually have much appetite when I’ve been sat all day!

Again I will not stop banging on about the views in Scotland it’s 1000% worth renting a car and going between destinations for all the stunning views! This particular drive I think we witnessed like 30 waterfalls, sheep blocking the road, mountains, lakes & nature in abundance and it never got old. Embarrassing to admit,but I’m an over sharer, I did actually cry tears of joy on this journey!

@takeabiteandsmile smile is very aptly named as that’s all you’ll be doing eating these scrum pastry’s

A 100% vegan pastry spot and south of the river!! What a bloody treat, my heart was skipping a beat at the prospect alone!!

But did it live up to expectation???
What we got; (all vegan)
Salami & friarielli pastry -10/10 - scrummy savoury goodness and just something a bit diff

Cheese & tomato pastry - 7.8/10 - v yum but kinda reminded me of the pizza slice I used to get from Greg’s (not a bad thing!!) just a bit simple.

Pan au choc - 8.2/10 - again she’s a staple for a reason and this was pleasantly surprising v flakey without being dry, a good glaze & nice quality choc.

Fruit tart - 9/10 - wow, technically very impressed and the fruit was fresh and zesty which can be the downfall of some fruit tarts. The base interested me as it was a readier dough than I expected but paired really nice with the custard base which I swear you couldn’t tell it was vegan.

Maritozzo - 10000/10 - I saved the best till last because holy smokes. I’ve never tried anything quite like it tbh. Maybe that’s why it scored so high, I actually never liked cream heavy desserts pre vegan life but recently I’ve had a change of hearts! I think it may be because when done well vegan cream is legit flavoured air… how there can be this much cream and it not be sickly I don’t know but I would have another in a heart beat!!

Anywayyyy that’s the review of the day, the minute, the moment. Have been so excited to try and so glad when I finally did I got to share the experience with my beautiful food enthusiast friend @poisedwithplants - forever greatful for all the amazing vegans I’ve met through this account I’m now lucky enough to call my good friends!!!!

Ignore the way I butchered the name in the vid but veryyy yummy drinks.
1. Is blueberry & coconut water with a matcha cloud
2. Is ube & coconut milk with a matcha cloud.

Now why I couldn’t have said that before IDK but it’s magical and you should try one!! Vegan cold foam isssa yes!

Anyway live, laugh, love ordering a silly lil drink and now I can ON MY DOORSTEP @coffeeinthewood ! Ft a matcha convert in @view_finder_moments

Day 5 what I eat in a day In Scotland should really be what I drank in a day in Scotland. And the answer would be coffee and @ncnean whisky 🤣

Day 4 what I eat in a day in Scotland

Largely a laying around in our amazing cabin day which I think is pretty understandable given the weather was a bit on and off and we’d traveled a long way for that cozy cabin!!

we made coffee and toast in the morning, read in bed & made fires when it wasn’t raining. Then in the evening we went to the Whitehouse restaurant for dinner which was delicious and a little boujie actually. Stunning views as always.

Then we went home for a game of cards, glass of wine & bed time!
