How much music should you actually be making?

During the Q&A at our first Making Music Panel, @cedricstlouis asked about something a lot of artists wrestle with:

How do you balance making music for yourself with making music people will respond to?

And how much should you be creating versus releasing?

The conversation eventually came back to something simple:

Pay attention to what people respond to. Learn from it. Find the balance between your own creative instincts and the audience you’re trying to reach.

Keep getting the reps in.

That’s part of what the Q&A at Making Music Panel and Workshop is about, giving artists the opportunity to ask the questions they’re actually dealing with.

You never know who’s in the room.

At our first Making Music Panel, @bkornmusic broke down something that changed the way he approached the music business.

He started out thinking the path was making great beats on his own and waiting for the right artist to eventually hear them.

What actually opened doors?

Other people.

Other producers brought different skills, different experiences and different networks into the equation.

That’s what collaboration can do.

And that’s a big part of what Making Music is becoming.

A place for artists, producers, engineers and music professionals to get in the same room, learn from each other, build relationships and create opportunities that might not exist otherwise.

Making Music Panel & Workshop #2 is happening Saturday, October 17th at @garner_underground in collaboration with @micvisionstudios inside the @garnerartscenter

This event is about bringing artists, producers, engineers and music professionals into the same room to learn, ask questions, make connections and create opportunities.

For Panel #2, we’re bringing together five music professionals with different experiences and perspectives.
