Garrett College, Garrett County Public Schools, and the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to host The Buck Starts Here, a FREE, interactive workshop designed to help families explore smart ways to pay for college.

From scholarships and financial aid to savings plans, work-study opportunities, and loans, attendees will learn about resources and strategies to make higher education more affordable.

Celebrating a lasting impact on Garrett College and our students! 💙

After eight years of dedicated service, Walt Malecki has stepped down as treasurer and chair of the Garrett College Foundation's Investment and Finance Committee.

Under his financial leadership, the Foundation's investment trust grew from $3.6 million to more than $10.5 million—a remarkable 188% increase that has helped create more opportunities for Garrett College students.

While Walt will continue serving on the Foundation's Board of Directors, we want to thank him for his exceptional leadership, financial expertise, and commitment to strengthening the Foundation's future.

Big decisions, exciting possibilities, and plenty of opportunities for what's next! 🎓

Garrett College students connected with representatives from 14 colleges and universities across three states during Transfer Day 2026.

From exploring academic programs and transfer pathways to learning about scholarships and financial aid, students gathered valuable information to help plan the next steps in their educational journeys.

“I’m glad there are a lot of options here,” said Garrett College freshman Brady Spotts, who shared that the event helped him consider “what I want to do, where I want to go, and what’s the best fit.”

Adventure is coming back to the big screen! 🏔️

The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour returns to the Performing Arts Center at Garrett College on October 10 at 6 p.m. with six films showcasing incredible stories of adventure, resilience, exploration, and the outdoors. 🎬

From skiing and big-wall climbing to a 6,900-kilometre expedition across the Canadian Far North, this year’s lineup will take you around the world—all from your seat at the PAC.

Supporting student wellbeing—on campus and beyond. 💙

Garrett College recently hosted its Student Wellbeing Fair, connecting 91 students with resources available both on campus and throughout the community.

Students had the opportunity to connect with the **Garrett County Health Department, Dove Center, Garrett Regional Medical Center, Mountain Laurel Medical Center, Maryland Wellness, AHEC West, Jazzercise, and Garrett County Lighthouse/Archway Station**, along with several Garrett College offices and resources.

From healthcare and mental health to academic support, recreation, financial aid, campus safety, and more, the fair helped students learn about the many resources available to support their wellbeing and success.

How can you stay strong, mobile, and active for the long haul? 🏃‍♂️

The 2026-27 Joan Crawford Lecture Series kicks off with Frostburg State University Assistant Professor John Wright and “Built for Adventure: The Science of Strength, Mobility, Recovery, and Longevity for the Adventure Athlete.”

Wright will explore how aerobic fitness, strength, bone health, balance, and mobility change as we age—and how training can help us maintain the ability to keep doing the activities we love.
