My new album The Gospel Truth by Garrison Starr is out on September 25 ⚡️

I’ve been wanting to release this record for so long, y’all, and the time has finally come! There will be plenty of time to talk about the story and its importance to me but for now, thank you @byaginc for writing all these songs w me and for producing them so masterfully. Thank you for giving voice to these stories of pain, resilience, forgiveness and redemption.

Thanks to @selfmadeandy for this amazingly drawn and perfect album cover.

Thanks to all the players and songwriters who made this possible. Yay! A new chapter. 🫶

what if the misfits were the ones who had it right all along?

the opening line of “Revival,” from @garrisonstarr ’s new album The Gospel Truth, gives us goosebumps and tears. outside the walls we were told to stay within, we’ve found more love and a deeper spirituality than we ever knew existed.

we get called heretics all the time. but you know who else they called a heretic? 👀

Tricia Rissmann Presents: Garrison Starr, The Gospel Truth Album Release
Sunday, November 15, 2026
Doors 2:00 PM | Show 3:00 PM

“A Lucinda Williams for Gen X’ers.” -NPR

“One of the strongest voices in town. She is also the author of affecting, emotion-bearing songs that are clothed in attractive, melodic garb.” -Billboard

Garrison Starr is the quintessential musical triple-threat, singer, songwriter, Grammy-nominated record producer, and her soon-to-be-released latest full-length album, Garrison Starr and The Gospel Truth, reveals her at the height of her powers.

Starr calls the new collection of songs, “Swamp Gospel Hymns for Humans,” the next chapter in her story of recovery and healing from her Evangelical Christian upbringing. Her previous album, "Girl I Used To Be,” released during the pandemic in March 2021, launched her exploration of deconstruction on the path towards self-love and forgiveness. “Girl I Used To Be” is the story of saying goodbye to what was, and The Gospel Truth is the story of the journey over the bridge to freedom.

Screw the algorithm: you just filled a room full of real people to listen to your music. You’re winning. You’re real. You can’t be unplugged.

“I find no fault with this dude.”

@garrisonstarr spent years having religion shoved at her. but when people badmouth Jesus, she still finds herself jumping to his defense.

her advice to the church: just lead with the story of Jesus. what he said, what he did. let people get curious about that.
because it’s not his fault we got it all wrong.

When did rejection become an expression of love?

Singer-songwriter @garrisonstarr shares the painful experience of being outed by a pastor and shunned by her friends, all in the name of “tough love.”

But is that really the love Jesus modeled?
