I want to thank Creative Loafing for taking the time to cover my decision to enter the race for Mayor of Tampa.

This campaign is deeply personal to me. It’s rooted in a vision for a stronger, more connected city where economic opportunity is within reach for everyone, small businesses can thrive, housing is attainable, and our transportation system truly serves our people.

I believe in building neighborhoods where families feel supported, businesses can grow, and residents have a real voice in the future of our city. Just as important, I’m committed to leading with transparency, accountability, and a genuine desire to serve.

This is about more than a campaign. It’s about the kind of Tampa we choose to build together.

I invite you to read the full article and learn more about what we’re working toward. Visit the link in my bio.

Earlier this week, I officially filed to run for Mayor of the City of Tampa.

This is home for me. It’s where I’ve built my career, raised my children, and worked alongside people who care deeply about this community.

As Tampa continues to grow, I keep coming back to one question: who is that growth really working for?

Too many families are feeling the strain. Too many small businesses are fighting to keep up. And too many communities still feel like they’re on the outside looking in.

I’m running because I believe Tampa can grow in a way that works for more people, not just a few.

This campaign is about expanding opportunity, strengthening our neighborhoods, supporting small businesses, and building a city government that shows up, listens, and delivers.

If you believe in that vision, I’d be honored to have your support.

Visit garyfortampamayor.com to learn more, get involved, and be part of the work ahead.

Let’s get to work.

I had the opportunity to sit down with the Shake The Room Podcast for an open conversation about Tampa, leadership, and the future of our city.

There’s a lot to talk about, and conversations like these are an important part of moving Tampa forward.

Here’s a quick look at our conversation, but there’s plenty more to hear in the full episode.

Yesterday, I attended the Unidos Somos Más Luncheon in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month. I appreciated hearing from Lyrik Cruz and reflecting on the important role our Hispanic community has played in shaping our city's history, culture, and future.

Unity requires more than words. It requires us to listen, learn from one another, and recognize that our shared future depends on all of us.

Thank you to Tampa Bay Latin Chamber President Diana Walker, CEO Roberto Borrero, and the entire TBLC team for the warm welcome and an outstanding luncheon. I appreciate the work you continue to do to bring people together and strengthen our community.

Long before Tampa became the city we know today, Indigenous peoples called this land home. Their history, traditions, and contributions helped shape the rich cultural heritage of our region and our state.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor that legacy while recognizing the Native American communities who continue to contribute to the fabric of our society.

One of the things I appreciate most about Tampa is the diversity of the people who call it home. Our community has been shaped by so many cultures, histories, and experiences, and each deserves to be acknowledged and respected.

Today is an opportunity to reflect on that history, celebrate the contributions of Indigenous peoples, and continue learning from the many communities that make our city what it is.

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

Leadership is about purpose, direction, and motivation. It’s about inspiring others to accomplish missions while building and protecting something greater than themselves. That’s exactly what our brave military men and women represent, and what I experienced at the 2026 Military Influencer Conference (MIC).

Home to MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa is stronger because of those who serve and lead. MIC 2026 was a humbling reminder of what access and opportunity can accomplish.

Thank you @simplykeem_ for the invitation and your service to our country and community. Congratulations on 10 years of opening doors and creating life-changing opportunities!

I enjoyed spending time last week with local business and civic leaders at the inaugural South Tampa Chamber Heroes Breakfast.

I've always believed that stronger businesses help build stronger neighborhoods. That only happens when good people are willing to invest their time, talent, and leadership in the community around them.

Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees, and thank you for the many ways you continue to serve our community and move Tampa forward.

This Sunday, 5,000 Strong officially kicks off!

Tampa is a city built by people who care deeply about their neighborhoods, their families, and the future of the place they call home.

5,000 Strong gives Tampa residents a chance to come together and make their voices heard.

One signature may seem small. But when thousands of people across our city step forward together, it becomes something bigger: a reflection of a community ready to help shape what comes next.

Over the coming weeks, 5,000 Strong will reach neighborhoods across Tampa, bringing people together, hearing what matters to residents, and collecting the petition signatures needed to secure a place on the ballot for Tampa Mayor.

This is where the next chapter begins: with the people of Tampa.

Add your signature. Bring a neighbor. Tell a friend. Help us build 5,000 Strong.

Grateful to have spent time with our neighbors at the Masjid Nasr Food Drive. Strong communities are built when we show up for one another, lend a hand, and make sure every family has the support they need.

Thank you to Masjid Nasr and every volunteer who continues to serve Tampa with compassion and purpose.
