Women often have to work twice as hard to attain political office, yet they still face significant violence. From online harassment to targeted intimidation, digital platforms have become another arena where women are silenced and attacked.

Building a democracy that works for everyone requires removing these barriers and holding platforms accountable for protecting women’s rights to participate, lead, and be heard.

Thank you to our panelists, @sholape__ , nimisire, @uloma and @ummi_alexis, for reminding us that democracy cannot be truly inclusive without women’s safety and participation.

Protecting democracy is a shared responsibility. It begins with paying attention, asking questions, and participating. Holding leaders accountable is part of meaningful political participation.

Thank you to our incredible panelists, @fakhrriyyah.h @kofoisart for reminding us that democracy is built through everyday action.

Our friends @ppdc_ng graced our stage and made something clear: democracy only works when citizens show up, speak out, and participate.

The energy was insane. 1,000+ creators and activists. 7 films. 25+ visual and performing artists. 1 mission: to record the history of our generation.

If you weren’t at Caustival, this recap is the best we could do to capture the magic. Check @gatefieldcaustival for more recaps from our annual arts and film festival. See you in 2027! 🔵

Special thanks to National Endowment for Democracy, Luminate, @techherng, @nlinnigeria, and @ppdc_ng for making this happen!

I’ve spent a long time overthinking whether to share thoughts like this publicly.

But something about this event stayed with me.

So here’s a reflection that left me thinking about social change, freedom and the spaces we create for people to be themselves.

I hope it resonates with you. 💭

Four days well spent!

I spent two days learning from and amongst brilliant people, and two in the world, taking in art that reminded me why everything matters. Feeling saurrrr inspired and reinvogorated 🩷🙂‍↕️

Thank you @Gatefieldcaustival for the space and the challenge and for the reminder that we decide what matters.

We decide what we accept 🧏🏾‍♀️
