The world lost a wonderful human on January 9. I’m thankful to have called one of my best friends, Punan Zhou. What started as a great day for backcountry skiing at Mount Charleston turned tragic. Punan, myself, and a few friends went skiing into the backcountry, and an unfortunate avalanche swept him. We got to him quickly, but despite our best resuscitation efforts we could not save him. Anyone who knew him would agree he was the nicest person they’d ever met. His laughter, happiness, charm and enthusiasm was contagious and one of a kind, he was the glue to our greater circle of friends. Always saw the positive in every situation. No ego. Thank you for all the memories we shared over the years my brother. Rest easy. You’ll be missed dearly, love you for ever. Please please please be safe out there all! by @gatesoffury

I remember taking you home for the very first time, I was 22 years old, you were so scared and you were shaking in my front seat not knowing where you were headed. I don’t think either one of us knew how much we would bond and need each other over the next 13 years. Hope you know I’ll always remember spending days together at the crag, San Diego dog beaches, 10 mile hikes in the Sierras, making me chase you around the coffee table after you stole my sock, resting your head on me when I was down, and all the cuddles and funny pics I took of you over the years. Stride fast across that rainbow bridge, you were so fast. RIP Rocky. Love you and miss you forever. ❤️ by @gatesoffury

Ironman Oregon 70.3. ✅

The Ironman experience was far more fun than I imagined. I always wanted to run a half marathon but never actually put myself to it. After busting my knee last year I thought doing an Ironman would make for a cool comeback story especially since I already love riding road bikes. Why not run 13 miles after biking 56 miles and swimming 1 mile?

Shout out to my wife for initially having the courage to sign up for this event and talking me into joining, I never would have done it without you!

The first few months of training were full of emotions, I truly wanted to give up and literally thought I might drown during the swim. Thanks to Navin for the swimming lessons and support all along the way. I thoroughly enjoy swimming now.

Somehow my torn ACL/ MCL held up like it never happened. My asthmatic lungs gave me no issue. Thank you Breo.

I have gained immense respect to the people who rigorously train for these events, amateurs and pros alike.

No I was not fast by any means, I was merely glad to have crossed the finish line before the time cut.

Shoutout to the 3P tri team for letting us crash your event and making us feel like home. You all are incredible.

Year 2 ❤️

1.) My first half marathon and solo HYROX… You’ve been there since day one. You didn’t just help me train, you helped me grow and chase goals I wasn’t sure I could reach, and you’ve been my # 1 cheerleader through it all.

4.) Canyoneering the Subway (From the Top)

5.) Backcountry days at the La Sal Mountains

6.) Top rope climb at Cactus Massacre

7.) Bardini Canyon

8.) Learning something new together.

9.) Biking through Zion National Park

10.) Sunset hike at Koko Head on our 2nd yr Anniversary

It’s been an amazing 2 years of marriage, doing so much together, traveling, growing as a couple and as individuals, and just enjoying this season together while it’s just us. I waited and prayed for a love like this, and I’m grateful every day for us. I love you, @gatesoffury ❤️ by @gatesoffury
