we’ve noticed that we’ve had some new folk follow our page recently , welcome!

we thought it might be fitting, for those of you who are new here, to make a post to revisit a little about who we are, what we do, and how you can join us in supporting our mutual aid comrades in gaza.

the gazan-led community support fund was created in late 2024 by our naarm founder who was wanting to build greater visibility and support for grassroots community initiatives doing incredible work but receiving little tangible support. a tiny international team was put together and we began to slowly build this small but mighty community of regular folk who have the shared aim of showing up with whatever skills we’ve got to support our kin in gaza.

the 8 community initiatives we work with & for are founded by folk in gaza for folk in gaza - we exist simply to mobilise coin, amplify their work, support them in whatever way we are able - it is them, and the communities they support who are the centre of this work, not us.
Over the past 2+ years, their vital work has supported hundreds of families and individuals and with your help, has the power to support hundreds more.

once again, your solidarity continues to help our comrades in g^za not only meet the immediate needs on the ground, but to invest in the future of g^zas children through educational facilities.
we are so grateful

to everyone who this month contributed, fundraised, set up mutual aid stalls & markets, worked to build community and poured their time, energy and care into supporting the 8 g/zan-led projects, the teams on the ground and we extend to you our deepest gratitude.
Together is what makes this possible.

September saw us send;
👕 funds toward stage 2 of the @aziz_factory orphans clothing project so that a first lot of clothing sets could be purchased at a good price and to ensure the beloved family who run this project can remain housed
🏫 funds to provide the new students and teachers of @beacongaza’s new Al Maghazi school with full back to school kits and 1st months teachers stipends
📚funds for monthly teachers stipends and classroom stationary at @beacongaza’s Deir Al Balah lighthouse school.
🐔funds to @thegazafarmersproject to increase the flock and for feed and vitamins
👕 funds to @shireen_fady to fund both a children and elders of the north project
⚕️funds to Islam, the founder and lead of @peace_charity_associatio_ for emergency medical treatment
💧funds to @suqyaproject to purchase and deliver clean drinking water to camps in Deir Al Balah

➕this month this dear community also raised further funds toward upcoming project goals

as always, every single one of these projects is directed, driven and delivered by our comrades in g a z a.
our priority is supporting them, through mobilising, raising and sending funds as quickly as possible and providing solid and steadfast holistic support as is determined by them.

the power of mutual aid

it isn’t a few people giving everything.
it’s each of us believing that even the smallest contribution makes a real difference.

helping us sustain the work of these 8 projects does not require your extraordinary generosity or extraordinary sacrifice.

it simply requires ordinary folk like you to believe that if enough of us give even a small amount, together it becomes something extraordinary.

please don’t ever think that that your contribution is too small to matter.

🚨 The rains are coming, and our learning tents urgently need repairs.

The situation is devastating. At Beacon Gaza, our immediate priority is to repair at least one tent so children can continue learning in a safer space.

We need to raise and level the sandy ground, increase the height of the metal frame, and replace the damaged plastic cover to help protect the classroom from rain.

These repairs cannot wait. Every contribution brings us closer to a classroom ready for the coming rains—and helps keep education within reach for Gaza’s children.

A new school, a new beginning, and renewed hope for our children. 📚💛

We, the Beacon Gaza team, are proud to celebrate the opening of our new school in Al-Maghazi Camp. We welcomed the children with stationery and school supplies, helping them begin this journey with smiles and the tools to learn.

Our heartfelt thanks to our partners, the Gazan-Led Community Support Fund and SHARE by S.U.N., and to everyone who contributed to making this dream a reality. Your generosity has helped create a place for children to learn, grow, and dream.

Together, we are opening doors to education and keeping hope alive. 🕊️

@artist._.ola launched her Young Artists project in december of 2024 and it has been an enormous privilege to support this remarkable young woman create safe spaces for hundreds of g^za’s children to create, play, and experience joy.

over the past two years, her @art.and_hope workshops have proven to be a powerful model in supporting children afflicted by trauma, playing a vital role in their care by creating spaces for them to create, imagine and dream.

for a long while now, Ola herself has dreamt of creating a designated art room for her little artists.
a place where the children can choose to make art at tables rather than on the floor.
where art made with small hands and hearts as big as the universe adorns the walls.

Ola is asking for our support to make her dream a reality.

fresh meat and poultry remain prohibitively expensive for the vast majority of displaced families living in the al Mawasi camps.
according to OCHA, protein-rich foods like meat and eggs are now only consumed at best once a week per household and families continue to experience severe nutritional gaps.

with the population of the “peace camp” in al mawasi now grown to almost 80 families, Islam and the peace association team are committed to providing each family with one whole chicken.
🍗
in g-za, grassroots mutual aid projects are essential to survival, providing a direct, community-led lifeline in response to severely restricted international relief operations and widespread bureaucratic bottlenecks.
for the families of the peace camp Islam and his team support essential daily survival through food and essential goods parcels, infant formula, clean water, community kitchens, and psychosocial relief for children helping preserve a sense of community dignity under siege.

U R G E N T support needed to raise the remaining balance needed for stage 2.

after delivering clothing to 150 orphans aged 0-6 years in july, donations have slowed to a near halt for stage 2 of the project which will see warm winter clothing sets distributed to another 159 children aged 6-12

our tiny team is working hard to raise the remaining balance so that these sweet children who are waiting for the aziz family to return don’t feel forgotten, but we really need your help.

receiving new clothing offers children in G a rare moment of normalcy and joy. wearing new, clean clothes helps these orphans maintain a sense of dignity amidst ongoing hardship and loss.
and it helps ease the financial stress of their surviving caregivers.

with winter coming, warm clothing is an essential need

the Flowers Orphans camp, an informal camp created by community in the khazandar area in gaza’s north, houses 500 orphaned children aged 0-18.

the aziz family’s commitment to provide each and every child in the camp with new clothing not only meets a desperate need, but it shows every single one of these children that they are seen, that they matter, and that they are loved.

this is the family’s biggest project yet and we need a “village” to make it happen. you can help by amplifying, d0nating, pooling resources with friends and family, collecting in your communities, holding fundraising tables or events and be an integral part of bringing a smile to the camps remaining 350 children.

🎨 “Unforgettable Memory” | Art Workshop Commemorating October 7th

On the anniversary of a day that changed so much in our lives, children gathered to express the changes they've experienced, the things they miss, and the dreams they still hold onto.

We didn't ask them to draw the war, nor did we tell them what to draw… we simply gave them paper, colors, and space to express themselves in their own way.

The drawings were diverse, but they all shared one common thread: each child's unique experience.

Some children drew details of their daily struggles: waiting in line for water, the bombing and destruction, displacement, tents, and the search for the most basic necessities.

Others chose to draw their dreams for the future; one child dreams of becoming a doctor, another dreams of becoming an artist, and still others drew what they hope their lives will be like someday.

And some chose to draw nostalgia… for their home, for their former life, and for small details that once seemed ordinary before becoming something we miss.

The papers were different, the colors were different, the stories were different… but behind every drawing was a child trying to say something.

At “Art and Hope,” we believe that art is not just drawing, but a space where a child can express their feelings, preserve their memories, and give their dreams room to grow.

From pain, they drew what they lived through; from nostalgia, they drew what they lost; and from hope, they drew what they wished to become. 🌱🎨
