BABYBOOM ~ Shortfilm Written & Directed by @dirbycaio A short film in collaboration with talented designer @faieaela This film actually started with a pair of winged heels Faye designed. I kept looking at them and wondering who would wear them and what those wings could mean. From there I started writing, and slowly the world of ‘BABYBOOM’ came together. I wanted it to feel like we’re watching one scene from a bigger film. A little strange, a little funny, with that kind of dialogue and tension I’ve always loved in Tarantino’s films. SEEING SOUNDS ~ a new short film I directed for Amsterdam-based fashion brand AICHE. They approached us to create an announcement film for their first-ever runway show during Amsterdam Fashion Week. Instead of making a traditional announcement, we wanted to build a world around the feeling of being completely locked into your craft ~ where reality and all the noise around you slowly start to fade away, until you’re fully inside your own bubble. We followed the team during the final preparations for the show, capturing the process of creating the garments inside their atelier all the way to the finished pieces being loaded onto a helicopter and transported to the runway. Sound became a big part of how we wanted to tell that story. We recorded live sounds from inside the atelier ~ sewing machines, fabrics, tools and the actual process of making the clothes ~ and implemented those sounds into the beat and sound design of the film. Turning the process itself into part of the soundtrack. From the noise of creation to the silence of being completely locked in. SEEING SOUNDS ~ AICHE

A few weeks ago we got approached by a beauty brand to create a piece with their product. The brief seemed simple, so instead of doing the obvious, we decided to overdeliver. We shot on a Bolex, built a small crew, spent days on production, color, sound design and editing, all to turn a simple “get ready with me” into something that felt cinematic. After delivering the final film, we were told it wasn’t the direction they were looking for. Only then did we learn they actually wanted something much simpler: an iPhone-style, one-take GRWM with a few jump cuts. No hard feelings. That’s part of the creative process. We were also asked not to use the brand or its logos, so we’re sharing it simply as an independent piece we’re incredibly proud of. Sometimes the work that never gets released ends up being the work you love the most. Trots dat we met EMPIRE hebben meegewerkt aan de videoclip van @mctyphoon voor de #SamenVoorKwetsbaarheid campagne. Dit weekend staan de Eredivisie en Keuken Kampioen Divisie in het teken van openheid over mentale gezondheid.
