Happy Women's History Month! Shoutout to all the women out there who are continuously pushing themselves to advocate for what they believe and paving their own in as well as pushing to be the woman they needed when they were little.

In celebration of Women's History Month, I want to share with you our poetic short film, "Not Your Erotic.” Written by Jo Bulaong and directed by me, this short film discusses the fetishization and sexualization of Filipino women. We've released this poetic film, "Not Your Erotic" last year. A couple months after the release, I found the perfect song to tie the story and the message altogether and decided to create a remastered and extended version of the film. Please watch all the way through the end :)

Sexualization of women caused by society’s unreal beauty standards can be very detrimental to women’s mental health. This can lead to depression, eating disorders, anxiety, low self-esteem, or body dysmorphia. I want to use my platform and art to advocate for women's empowerment, raise awareness about my culture, as well as open up the narrative that women are more than just eye candy. We have so much value to us than society makes us seem to be.

A Woman Is... everything they told us not to be. Loud. Defiant. Soft. Unbreakable. This film is for every woman who’s ever been told to shrink, to quiet down, to make herself small. We are not small. We never were. Through generations of resilience, we reclaim our voices, our bodies, our truth. This is for us. For the ones before us. And for the ones who will come after.

I can’t begin to express my gratitude to every single person who poured their heart into this journey with me. To my incredible cast and powerhouse of a crew, you didn’t just bring this story to life, you breathed soul into it in ways I could have only dreamed of. What started as a poem, a whisper of an idea I hesitated to share, has now taken shape in the real world. To those who reminded me why I create: to unleash, to express, to inspire, and to disrupt, this film exists because of you.

“The farming life was the life we were supposed to get away from…” In a time around the U.S. where convenience trumps connection to our food, @remaginationfarm teaches the importance of reconnecting back to the land and our food sources. 🌊 Meet the Artists of WAVES OF RECLAMATION! 🌊

We’re excited to introduce you to some of the artists and creatives featured in Waves of Reclamation: Gelli Pascual, Alexandria Del Rosario Duran, and Zach Angeles! ✨

Waves of Reclamation is a Filipinx group art exhibition exploring identity, memory, healing, and cultural resurgence in honor of Filipino American History Month. 🇵🇭

Through diverse artistic expressions, participating artists reflect on the journeys of reclaiming our stories, traditions, histories, and selves, honoring the tides that shape who we are and the waves that carry us toward collective liberation.

This exhibition is organized by a coalition of independent artists, creatives, and grassroots community organizers, including Shawntay Gorman, Nikki Abeleda, and Guava House.

Wow. What a journey this has been.

I’ve been taking a moment to sit with everything, how full, challenging, and fruitful these last few months have been. Through the stress, long days, and emotional weight of making this film, I keep coming back to the same truth: my community and the impact art can have when made with care, never fails to amaze me.

As a survivor of sexual violence, I wanted to create the kind of documentary I needed to see. One that didn’t leave me feeling retraumatized or reduced to what happened to me, but seen, understood, held, inspired, and reminded that there is life after survival.

So often, stories about survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence focus only on the trauma. That desire became the heart of @andthenwerisefilm . I wanted to help reframe the way survivor stories are told, to move beyond what was taken and focus on what is being reclaimed: voice, autonomy, purpose, and power. What started as an intention became something bigger because of the people who believed in this vision and chose to help bring it to life.

To @xoxo.itsserena & @christine.hong.nguyen , thank you for trusting @jeffthehapa and me with your stories, vulnerability, and truth. Your courage has already touched so many people, and I know it will continue to help survivors feel less alone. Thank you @dslakoffphd for providing your expertise insight in this film while holding space for our contributors and survivors who will watch our film.

Thank you to @phoonglaw & @my_sisters_house for believing in my vision and stories like these, for advocating for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, and for supporting a film that centers healing, community, and reclamation.

And thank you to @asianpacificfilmfest for screening our documentary and creating a space where stories like this can be witnessed by community. It means so much to have our short documentary held in a space that celebrates Asian and Pacific Islander voices, stories, and truth.

This film is for the survivors who are still finding their voice. For the ones who had to carry silence for too long. For the ones learning that they are more than what happened to them.

On the first day of Pride Month, we return to an exhibition that opened last Thursday in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood — one that asks a question at the heart of both Filipino culture and queer experience: what does it mean to love, and what does that love cost us?

On a warm Thursday evening, visitors stepped into 447 Minna Street and were greeted not with a typical gallery opening but with an invitation: As you enter, take a moment to soften and remember the people, gestures, and sacrifices that have taught you what love means.

This was MAHAL — the 2026 edition of Balay Kreative’s annual Kreative Growth exhibition, presented by Balay Kreative and hosted at CAST SF’s 447 Minna Arts Hub located in the historic Dempster Building. The show features two Filipinx artists: photographer, filmmaker, and poet Gelli Pascual, and multidisciplinary painter, sculptor and material necromancer, Tanza J. Solis. Together, their work forms a meditation on love as inheritance, practice, and responsibility.
