I wish more naturals knew this:

Your hair journey is exactly that a journey.

It takes time to learn what your hair likes, what it doesn’t like, how much moisture it needs, and which styles work best for your texture.

There is no magic product, no overnight growth trick, and no one-size-fits-all routine.

The hairstyle that looks amazing on someone else may not look the same on you and that’s okay.

Give yourself grace. Be patient with your hair. Learn it. Listen to it. Grow with it.

Healthy hair isn’t built in a day. It’s built through consistency, patience, and understanding your unique texture.

Curl friend, stop comparing your journey to someone else’s. Your hair has its own story to tell. 🤎 #naturalhair # #naturalhaircare # #foryoupage #naturalhairjourney by @gellisafevrier

People keep calling the French roll “old school” and “outdated,” but baby… a classic never expires.

One thing about timeless beauty is that it evolves with every generation. You can modernize a classic style to fit whatever era you’re in, and that’s exactly why I’ll forever love a French roll. It gives elegance, confidence, softness, and that nostalgic beauty our mothers and grandmothers wore so effortlessly.

Back then, the girls were stepping OUT with their rolls pinned to perfection, lipstick on, feeling beautiful, and hair laid honey. And honestly? I want to bring those styles back into today’s world because some looks deserve to live forever.

A style is never outdated when the right person is wearing it. 💋#FrenchRoll #FrenchRollHairstyle #NaturalHairStyles #NaturalHairStylist by @gellisafevrier

Today, Texture On Set was everything I could’ve imagined and more. Being in that space, surrounded by nothing but talent, creativity, and real representation of textured hair… it honestly felt like a dream come true.

From the energy in the room to the people who came from all over the world just to be there… yeah, this is one of those moments I’ll never forget. I’m so grateful I got to be a part of it. Thank you @naeemahlafond for allowing me to be apart of something so great 🤎

And trust me, I’m bringing ALL of this back with me.

My husband brought something to my attention that I honestly didn’t realize about myself. I’m not as social as people think I am.

And honestly, he was right.

I’ve always wondered why I enjoy having moments where it’s just me. No conversations, no expectations, just a space where I can decompress.

As hairstylists, people sometimes forget that we’re human too. We’re in the service industry, so we’re expected to smile, have good energy, create a welcoming environment, and show up for others every single day.

But who’s protecting our peace?

Over this past year, I’ve been intentional about protecting my peace, my mental health, and my sanity. I’ve been praying and asking God to place me in environments and connect me with clients who won’t disturb the peace He’s given me.

And let me tell you, these past 11 months, God has truly been answering those prayers.

He’s blessed me with an amazing work environment and some incredible clients, and I’m so grateful.

I’m learning that peace is something you should never feel guilty about protecting.

So here’s your reminder: Protect your peace. Protect your mental health. And if you constantly find yourself in spaces that leave you feeling drained, maybe it’s time to reevaluate your surroundings.

Sometimes the environment you’re in makes all the difference.

To my fellow hairstylists, how do you decompress after giving so much of yourself to others?

I remember DMing @naeemahlafond , a global hairstylist and educator I looked up to, asking her how I could become an educator and work with brands.

Her advice was simple: Show up on camera. Let brands see that you can talk, teach, and educate.

I had heard this before, but hearing it from someone who inspired me made me look at things differently. And my husband, @dimitrif , has been staying on me about being consistent with the things I say I want for myself.

These two people have pushed me in ways that may sound so simple, but sometimes it’s the simplest advice that we struggle to put into action.

Was I comfortable on camera? Absolutely not. Did I know what kind of content I wanted to create? Nope. But I knew my goals required me to step outside my comfort zone.

I hear people say all the time, “Social media just isn’t my thing.” And I get it because it wasn’t mine either.

But sometimes the opportunities we’re praying for require us to do things we’re uncomfortable doing.

I had to stop waiting for someone to give me an opportunity and start creating opportunities for myself.

So I started showing up, being consistent, and building a brand that represents ME. And God has been opening doors I once only prayed about.

When you see my growth, I don’t want you to focus on the followers. I want you to focus on the CONSISTENCY.

Because this didn’t happen overnight. It took time, patience, uncomfortable moments, and showing up even when I didn’t feel like it.

You can’t expect people to see what you’re capable of if you’re not willing to show up for yourself.

Stop waiting to be discovered. Start showing up for YOU.

Hey Curl Friendz, I’ve been working on an eBook based on some of the questions you all ask me the most.

What may seem like basic hair knowledge to us as professionals isn’t always common knowledge to everyday clients. And honestly, some of these are things I used to struggle with understanding myself.

I wanted to create something easy to read and understand that helps you recognize what your hair actually needs, identify common concerns, and build a better regimen at home.

Because it’s not always about what you see educators and influencers using. It’s about understanding YOUR hair.

If you’re interested in my upcoming eBook, comment YES CURL FRIENDZ below or send me a DM, and I’ll share the release information with you!

Sometimes the person you see showing up confidently is the same person fighting silent battles behind the scenes.

Imposter syndrome is real, and I wanted to share this because I know I’m not the only one who experiences it.

Have you ever been in a season where you’re growing but still questioning yourself?

Hey Curl Friendz, this was definitely a fangirl moment for me.

Growing up, I remember watching The Oprah Winfrey Show on the TV in our kitchen. I always admired Oprah’s beautiful, natural-looking makeup and glowing skin. I remember wondering who was behind those consistent, flawless looks.

Fast forward to the Bronner Bros. Beauty Icon Awards, and I had the opportunity to meet and interview Derrick Rutledge, the artist behind so many of those looks I admired growing up.

As an artist myself, I know artistry is more than a skill. It’s passion, dedication, and a gift. To go from admiring his work on television to interviewing him in person was truly a full-circle moment.

I’m grateful for the rooms God continues to place me in.

Who is one artist you’ve always dreamed of meeting? Share their name in the comments.

Hey Curl Friendz!

God has been blessing me in ways I can’t even explain. Lately, I’ve been walking into rooms I once dreamed of being in, surrounded by global brand ambassadors, educators, and industry leaders.

What’s even more beautiful is being invited into these rooms by people I didn’t even realize were watching my journey.

One thing people keep telling me is, “You light up the room.” And every time I hear that, I smile because I know it’s not just me. It’s the God who lives within me.

My prayer is that wherever I go, people see more than my talent. They see God’s light shining through me.

I’m learning that you don’t have to force your way into rooms God has already prepared for you.

So allow me to reintroduce myself.

My name is Gellisa Fevrier, and I’m a global natural hair educator, licensed cosmetologist, and texture specialist. But above every title, I’m a woman of God using the gifts He’s given me to educate, inspire, and serve.

And I believe He’s just getting started.
Thank you @andreamcalderonn @moroccanoil for the invite 🤎

Wait, you mean three hairstylists can be in the same room, do curls completely differently, and STILL support each other? Imagine that!

Different techniques. Different talents. Same love for the industry.

Your talent doesn’t take away from mine, and mine doesn’t take away from yours. There’s enough room for ALL of us to win!

I wish more hairstylists understood this.

Be honest, why do you think competition is so common in the beauty industry?
