I thought I’d take a moment to properly introduce myself.

Work, family and a little bit more.

I’m a performance coach. This usually leads to the question, what do you actually do and what does that mean?

In simple terms, I work with professional women and founders who have achieved a lot, but somewhere along the way stopped checking whether it still feels right. They are often carrying quiet pressure and they are looking for clarity.

Clarity about who they are now.
Clarity about what they want next.
Clarity about how to move forward without burning out.

I spent 10 years as a Senior Leader at John Lewis, the UK’s leading department store. I’m Tony Robbins trained. I’ve lead teams and coached for over 20 years.

The most valuable thing I bring to my work is lived experience.

I know what it feels like to perform well on the outside and question everything on the inside. That depth shapes the experiences I create.

Outside of work, I’m Ryan’s mum. He’s four. Our weekends are soft play, football and trampoline parks. Bedtime is still a work in progress.
Gary and I have been together 18 years. We run this business together. I lead the vision. He handles the technical. Watching him be Ryan’s dad is my favourite thing.

I’m slightly obsessed with The Traitors and I love a podcast that shifts your perspective.

This year I’m hosting live events and launching a group programme for women in business ready to build from a stronger foundation.

If that sounds like you, I’m glad you’re here and it’s lovely to be connected.

I turned down a place on The Apprentice.

Series 2. BBC. 2006. An offer I actually said no to.

Here’s what really happened:

I was a senior leader at John Lewis, the youngest in the company at the time. My boss John, the managing director, had put all his faith in me. Backed me. Believed in me. (He is an incredible mentor and I’ll always be so grateful to him!)

I’d privately applied for The Apprentice.
The real truth behind the reason why?
I just wanted to see how far I’d get! I never actually thought I’d be offered a place 🙈

Two weeks before filming was due to start, I had to tell John I’d been offered it.

He wasn’t happy. At all!!!!!
I don’t blame him, he’d invested in me, and here I was, applying for a new job without thinking it through.

I had a choice to make: chase something that looked impressive on paper, or stay loyal to the person who’d backed me when it mattered.

I chose loyalty. I stayed at John Lewis.

Looking back…
It was one of the best decisions I ever made. Not because The Apprentice wasn’t a huge opportunity, it absolutely was, but because it taught me something I still carry with me:

Choosing what’s right over what just looks good is one of the most powerful things you can do.

That lesson is the foundation of everything I do in my life and business today.

I can’t be the only one who learnt a big lesson that’s never left them. What’s a decision you made that changed everything?

A very good reminder for me today 🙋🏼‍♀️❤️

Spending the morning at a Women in Business event and having some brilliant conversations with women I’d never met before.

Sometimes you really do just need to make the commitment to yourself and get in the room!

More of this please 🙏🏼❤️

Thank you so much @mazifur_worswick @knutsford_women_in_business you have created something extra special over the last 4 years and bring together such a lovely community of businesses 🥰

What if you actually went ALL IN too? 👀

I see this one A LOT (and I’ve worn the t-shirt plenty myself over the years!)

Leaders and founders who make decisions, solve problems and take responsibility every single day. Yet when the decision is personal to them, suddenly they want more information, another opinion or just a little more time to think.

Sometimes those things are useful, but sometimes you already know.

You’re just hoping to reach a level of certainty that the decision can’t give you.

I’m fascinated by the difference between not knowing what you want to do and not yet trusting yourself enough to do what you already know.

They can look almost identical from the outside.

Maybe you recognise this in yourself? ❤️

Knowing what to do isn’t always the problem! You can know you need to speak up, set the boundary, make the decision, raise the price, ask for help or finally take the next step. BUT still not do it 🙈

That gap between knowing and doing is something I’m fascinated by!!!

Very often, there’s something happening underneath the behaviour that makes perfect sense once you can see it.

A familiar response.
A belief you’ve carried for years.
A need you’re trying to meet.
A pattern that once helped you, but might now be getting in your way.

That’s exactly why I created the free Clarity Audit 💌

It helps you start recognising what may be influencing the way you think, respond and make decisions, particularly in the moments when you find yourself thinking 💭

‘I KNOW this, so why am I still doing it?!’

If that sounds familiar, take the free Clarity Audit. 15 questions, 5 minutes and your personal results delivered straight to your inbox 📨

Dear September…
...you pushed me hard, but thank you for the learns 🙏🏻

This is a little video I captured after being in Manchester City Centre co-working today with and then heading straight to school pick up.

My attempt at putting September into words.

One big theme…

Certainty.

Or perhaps, what happens when the certainty you’re looking for simply isn’t available.

This month has taught me lots about myself ❤️

Today I found myself back in my old stomping ground, John Lewis Cheadle.

14 years since I was General Manager of this department store. Walking around today got me thinking about how differently I see success now compared with the woman I was then.

Back then, I thought success was about progression (and as swiftly as possible!)

The next role.
More responsibility.
A bigger team.
Bigger KPI targets.

I loved so much about that chapter of my life, and it taught me an enormous amount about people, leadership and myself.

But I also thought that if I kept achieving, eventually I’d reach this imaginary place where I’d feel like I’d made it.

I know differently now.

In 2015 I left corporate life (despite loving my job, the team and the company I’d worked for since I was 18 years old)

Built a business I could never have imagined back then.

Experienced some extraordinary highs.
Experienced some pretty spectacular lows too.

Become a mum.

Turned 45.

Started again more than once and somewhere amongst all of that, my definition of success changed.

I don’t think success is about how impressive your life looks anymore.

I haven’t become less ambitious, far from it! I’ve just become far more particular about what I’m willing to trade for success.

Perhaps that’s one of the gifts of getting older 🥰🤷🏼‍♀️

You stop asking ‘Does this look successful?’ and start asking ‘Does this still feel like success to me?’

Funny what walking back into an old chapter of your life can make you think about ❤️

You can be exceptionally good at what you do and still second guess yourself.

I see this so often in incredibly capable people.

More experience helps you become more competent.
More information can help you make an informed decision.

NEITHER guarantees that you’ll trust yourself when there isn’t an obvious right answer.
Often, the further you progress, the more of those decisions there tend to be.

No perfect answer.
No guarantee.
No amount of Googling or Chat GPTing that can tell you exactly what to do!
Just a decision that eventually has to become yours.

That’s where self trust matters.

Sometimes, what looks like a confidence problem is actually an invitation to understand what happens inside you when certainty isn’t available.

Where are you waiting to feel completely sure before you allow yourself to move?

If this feels familiar, my free Clarity Experience can help you recognise some of the patterns that may be influencing how you think, respond and make decisions.

Tuesday in the office. Hair washed and makeup on. I might even record a video at this rate 😂🥰

I’ve been sitting here thinking about the Clarity Experience I’ve created and how good it feels to finally have it out in the world 🎉

I didn’t create it because I thought the world needed another personality quiz.

I created it because I kept seeing the same thing…over and over and over and over again!!!!

Brilliant, capable people trying to fix what they thought was the problem.

More confidence.
More discipline.
Better boundaries.
Less overthinking.
More motivation.

I’ve done it too.

I’ve achieved things I once thought would make me feel completely sure of myself, only to discover that success doesn’t automatically change the way you think, respond or make decisions.

Sometimes you have to look underneath what’s happening.

At the patterns you’ve picked up along the way. The ones that helped you succeed, the ones that kept you safe, and the ones that might not fit who you’re becoming anymore.

That’s really why I created the Clarity Profile.

Not to put you in a box or tell you who you are.

Just to give you another way of understanding yourself.

Because once you can recognise a pattern, you have far more choice about what you do with it.

Anyway, back to my Tuesday. A quick lunch, client sessions, and maybe that video while the hair and makeup are still cooperating 😂🙈

The Clarity Profile is completely free if you’d like to discover yours. Comment CLARITY and I’ll send you the link, or you can find it in my bio. ✨
