📚COVER REVEAL📚

My second novel, THREE NIGHTINGALES, is published four months today, on November 10th.

Set in Boston, 1942, it tells the story of the Cocoanut Grove nightclub fire, one of the worst tragedies in American history, claiming 492 lives. As with my first novel, I’ve taken a very real moment in history and told it from the perspective of fictional women:

Alice, who lost sight of her fiancè in the fire and is trying relentlessly to find him.

Inez, a wannabe journalist who wants to uncover the truth about who is responsible.

Nina, a nurse, one of many tasked with treating the victims of the fire.

The three women meet as they try to survive the night, forming a friendship, supporting each other as they each find the courage to deal with the horrific aftermath of the event.

World Book Day seems the perfect time to reveal the US cover of my second novel, The Nightingales of Boston (Three Nightingales in the UK).

Swipe for a little sneak peek of what it is about. Set in Boston in 1942, this is another fictional telling of a real-life event. This time it’s the devastating nightclub fire at the Cocoanut Grove nightclub, which claimed 492 lives. There are more strong female characters to meet, as Alice, Inez, and Nina’s lives are all changed as they come together to deal with the immediate aftermath of the fire.

Out in November 2026, it is now available for pre-order.

As is tradition (can something be a tradition if you’ve only done it twice?!) I’m celebrating my new book reaching fifty reviews on Goodreads.

Two years ago when I was grappling with the edit I wasn’t sure I had done the story in my head justice, and I lost a bit of confidence, so it was very nerve wracking waiting to see what people thought in the early reviews. I’m so delighted that 80% of people who have reviewed it so far gave it either four or five stars.

The only person I want to compare myself to is myself, and with my first book, I hit 50 reviews on publication day. This time we’re there with still a month to go, which I’m taking as a positive sign. 😊

Called The Nightingales of Boston in the US, and Three Nightingales in the UK, this story of how three women cope in the aftermath of a massive nightclub fire in 1942, is out in both countries on 10th November.

Hello October! I love Autumn colours and Halloween so I’m hoping for a productive month. September took no prisoners in the day job. There were tears. Not many words written, and all of them were from just four days. This is already the longest it has ever taken me to write a draft by far, and there’s still a long way to go. Hopefully October will be better!

My debut novel Grace of the Empire State is $1.99 on Kindle for all of September.

Set in New York, 1930, it’s the story of Grace, a dancer who has to impersonate her brother and take his place working on the construction of the Empire State Building when he gets injured, to save their family from financial ruin.

It’s a story of love, hope, sacrifice, and female strength, and it asks the question what would you do, and how far would you go, for the ones you love?

Where does the time go? Week three complete and managed to keep adding words to my first draft. I’ve realised I’m at the point where I now need to read through what I’ve got to work out what comes next.

This will slow me down, but it can still be quite good for adding new words as I’ll probably flesh out scenes I’ve already written. I guess we’ll see which way it goes next week…
