Last day of 4th grade, 1991. We were the only students who showed up. Shortly after this photo was taken, we formed a ska band. by @generic_cunha

I’m on vacation til Thursday, trying to ignore social media (fail). BUT the other day I went to several Bullmooses, excited to pick up the new Redd Kross documentary and the remastered Fabulous Stains. The Devo Halloween show is great; it’s 1975 and the crowd is not having it. #reddkross #ladiesandgentlementhefabulousstains #devo by @generic_cunha

I uploaded another show from 1995. The only time I can recall the Hu Ke Lau allowing an all-ages rock show to happen.

The third live performance of Mary’s Revenge (before changing the name to Madslappycrappy). Our first was that May at Steve Furman’s house. The next was weeks later at Comp Frolics, where we were disqualified for a verbal nasty. I remember the Hu Ke Lau show was hot, I couldn’t see half of my band, and my right foot wouldn’t stop shaking between songs. Not a single tuner among us.

Also on the bill this evening: Transgression, Scapegoat, and Valley of the Dolls (who organized the show). Lots of stage-diving and moshing, starting with Mary’s Revenge’s set. We also got kicked out of the backstage lounge, possibly for squirt guns? During VD’s set, a bouncer stood in front, attempting to curb the stage-diving (only to have several kids sail right past him). Fun chaotic show, I wish I had worn contacts for this one. Borrowed a deluxe copy of Help! The packaging is intense, and includes a book? I didn’t come here to read! I always fall asleep by the time the boys reach (spoiler) the Bahamas. I forget how zany it is, it’s like four back to back episodes of the Monkees. The color restoration is impressive; you can really see how red their eyes are during “Ticket To Ride”. For some reason, I listen to them more during the winter than any other time (anytime at all). P.S. fuck ICE. #beatles #gear #fab by @generic_cunha

The Games and Lanes show from December 15, 1995 is up on the YouTube for its 30th anniversary. Thanks Alex for the VHS copy, I did the best I could. Seven bands booked, six got to play! Madhappy ripped through one and a half tunes that night, a microphone was sacrificed, and precious memories were made. Here I am, showing off my freshly scribbled “I AM A TRENDY WHORE” shirt, in response to a “Madcrappy” shirt worn that night. The link to the playlist is in the comments (although typing “Games and Lanes 1995” into Youtube probably works better). #gamesandlanes #1995 by @generic_cunha
