Been too long since an update! Since our last post, Brother Lemur’s assembled a ragtag bunch of swell folks for the live biz. We played our first show, ringing in the new year at a house party. Since then, we’ve spent Saturday nights huddled in Eric’s basement, working on new songs. We’ve also been getting airplay on local radio stations Lazer 99.3 and WRSI. Our next gig’s in May at Ten Forward, in Greenfield MA! #tenforward #brotherlemur #achings #slantoflight #jengelineau

Hello and thanks for checking out this page! We, Brother Lemur, have an album to foist upon you. It's our debut; a dozen songs about at least thirteen things. Songs written by Jason Dorval recorded with Eric Cunha. The album's currently available on Bandcamp, with shiny compact discs on the way. It'll soon be available thru all the major streaming services too, so jump for that joy! #brotherlemur

Rabbit, rabbit and happy Canada Day! And also, happy birthday to my friend @generic_cunha (He lets me call him Eric.)
Eric (seen in slide 1, giving me the one finger salute) and I have been friends for nigh on 10 years now. It feels longer, but in a good way. Out of all my friends, he's the one I vote "Most Likely to Be Canadian", because he's got that specific kind of pleasant weirdness that only Canucks seem to possess. ("Canuck" isn't a slur, right? God, I hope it's not. If it is, I'm really sorry.) He has the deepest musical knowledge of anyone I know, yet he's never snarky when I don't know a deep cut or a Brazilian b-side. He's always excited to share something he thinks is cool and my listening experiences are all the better because of him.

It's not all sunshine with Cunha, though. As seen in slide 2, if you get your streets mixed up while trying to schedule brunch at a Mexican restaurant, he will mock you mercilessly, even though it's not your fault because you don't know South Hadley that well.

Anyway, Eric's in a band again! The album drops today on bandcamp! They used a few of my photos for the album art! (Slide 3. They like the ones with the phones. I do, too.) The band and the album are called Brother Lemur and I've listened to the whole thing twice and I love it. There are songs for eyeshadowing, for art making, and for doing all the things you like to do while listening to music. Check it out, won't you? And even though Eric won't make a big deal about his birthday, please wish him all the best!

New Year's Eves past involved fake geese, skeletons made flesh, and friends who just get you. New Year's Eve present is 80s music in the basement and a cat who is curious about champers. I miss hugging friends and strangers alike in the bar at midnight. I miss kielbasa expertly prepared by @suzydragonslayer_nyc. And black eyed peas served up by @zebraflash. I miss sneaking pics of @robertdraconum behind the kit. I miss shooting the shit with @starbird_bow on the deck at the 13th Floor. I know we'll get those times back. In the meantime, bottoms up, babies.
