Featuring remixes / reworkings by Time Is Away ~ Troth ~ Grace Ferguson ~~~~~~~~ Sulphur-crested cockatoos screech circling mountain ash. A cicada rave cascades over quartz and clay. Ocean swells flanked by volcanic rock beckon.ย  โ€˜Day and night have equal weightโ€™, the third release from ambient / post-folk group Cold Hands Warm Heart, is a deep listening offering as antidote to the anthropocentric condition. A sonic meditation on landscape, connection to place and reciprocity with nature, this album is in collaboration with soundscapes of Kulin Country; cicadas, eastern froglets and lyrebirds contribute to the improvisations and inspire the compositions, communing with the shared musical language of the ensemble that has intuitively formed over a decade of making sounds together.ย  โ€˜Day and night have equal weightโ€™ holds space for two projects; the first a live set recorded for Jack Rollo / Time is Away / NTS radio at Naarm based artist run space Eastmint studios, broadcast in 2024. The ambient sound world is soaked with monsoon water, floating manuscripts, forgotten staircases and elegiac forests. Spoken symbols are stitched into warm textures that materialise from rain droplets, gum leaves and invisible spirits. Floating Water Organ is the first release from Whelkโ€™s forthcoming debut album. It was commissioned by Loom, a new literary journal by Adalya Nash Hussein, Hasib Hourani, Mira Schlosberg and Selena Repanis. A special thank you to Hasib Hourani for editorial assistance, and to Eastmint for use of the studio space for recording. Whelk is an ambient music and poetry collaboration between multi-instrumentalist Genevieve Fry and poet Manisha Anjali. ๐Ÿ„ Returning for the 4th edition on Thursday the 2nd of July ๐Ÿ’˜ Music For Mushrooms is a dedication to spaces of transcendence in nature, in particular to the network of the forest - Mycelium. With this project, artist Ophelia Bakowski (DJ Luv You) alongside special guest Genevieve Fry, will explore through a selection of compositions, field recordings, and live instrumentation, what it might be like to be a mushroom. Sounds collected and arranged for this work have been gathered in the process of foraging, consuming, exuding, and becoming. Tender has been a space to nourish and develop these ideas and now, as seasons pass and Winter takes hold, itโ€™s time to return and imprint our spores again. Ophelia and Tender invite you to this deep listening experience, to sink into the earth and become a mushroom for a brief 180 minutes; To partake in fungal feelings and indulge in a space of gentle warmth and playful serenity for both mushroom and mushroomee ๐Ÿ’ 6-9pm Thursday 2nd of July Tickets $30 Full Price / $20 Concession Tender Deep Listening Info: You can enter or exit the listening room at any time throughout the duration. Please remove shoes on arrival and place them in the pigeon holes provided. We will have yoga mats, cushions and blocks available, as well as a few seats for early arrivals. We invite guests to make themselves comfortable, rearranging the furniture in the room as you like to suit your desired activities. Some suggested activities to do while listening: reading, drawing, stretching, playing chess, meditating, taking a nap, nothing. Deep Listening Sessions are not intended to be social events. Please respect our no talking policy and try to keep voice volumes soft if speaking. Tender is not serving alcohol and is not BYO, but there will be non-alcoholic beverages available to purchase as well as complimentary tea. by @genevieve___fry
