Screen Summit 2026 (#3)

I particularly fell in love with Élizabeth d’Arvieu the Chief Content Officer at Mediawan Pictures (Paris)

She spoke with such passion about French filmmaking, it was so infectious and what came across also,

was her love of English writers (very pleased about that) and our exceptional crews.

What’s not to love!

The afternoon sessions were crammed with delegates and it was difficult to find a place

to stand and shoot the video, so here I am at the river side.

After what was reported in those sessions, we are all looking forward to 2027 and a bumper year for British Filmmaking.

Screen Summit 2026

A series of short videos from my trip to Southbank, London on September 29th.

It was so much more positive than my time there last year, when every Producer seemed depressed.

Many writers are high-tech with their tools for screenwriting, but I am old school.

As a young boy, I had a fountain pen and loved writing with it. Last year, I received a family heirloom, this @sheafferpen

When I opened the box (zoom in for better details) and found that the purchase was dated 1/10/26 and unless this is a time travelling pen from the future, then it would be 100 years old TODAY.

It is a beautiful pen, but also a bit of a mystery, because no one in the family knows who it belonged to.

If you are thinking of your next or first writing project, consider a fountain pen and a good notebook.
(Psychologists reckon we have a deeper emotional connection to handwritten work, than on a device)

And thank you @sheafferpen for making such a beautiful and durable pen.

I’m attending the Screen Summit 2026, at the BFI Southbank tomorrow.

The focus is on financing the UK film industry and my hope is to learn how the market is shaping up over the next twelve months and how to develop a lasting g career as a Producer.

I met Mark Forbes @scotsfilmmaker at the @rolling_film_festival last Friday.

I have supported Mark’s work a little and was at the Vue Cinema in London Piccadilly.
#it was here I met the passionate and talented @alidapantone one of the organisers of the festival.

Mark’s film, ‘Quiet on Set: Class Division in the film industry’ was a testimony of his commitment to true diversity, equality and inclusion, so lacking in the British film industry.

I went to see The Dog Stars the other night with my son.

It’s the new film from Ridley Scott; an adaptation of Peter Heller’s book of the same title.

For me it’s like a quest story, as the main characters all seem to be searching for the right question to ask.
