Good luck, Gina ❤️

Our pal & colleague @georginaruns has left London to move back home up north. And while we’re sad to see her go, we couldn’t be more grateful for everything she’s brought to @tootingrunclub

A TRC OG, Gina has been with us since day one—our very first session back in March 2022. She quickly became a huge part of our community and has been a person of many firsts:

✨ The first person (other than me!) to proudly use the #tootingrunclub hashtag and add TRC to her profile.
✨ Our first female run leader on Wednesdays.
✨ The very first Featured Runner of the Month.
✨ A regular TRC photographer, capturing moments with her modern smartphone 📸
✨ The one who brought music to track sessions, keeping the vibes high. 🎶
✨ An occasional stand-in coach, and co-leader of first-timer briefings.

But Gina didn’t just lead others—she made huge progress as a runner herself. Starting in the Green Group, she steadily worked her way up to Reds, then went on to smash her marathon PBs in Chicago and Berlin, after first taking on London ⭐️⭐️⭐️

From leading runs to pushing her own limits, from welcoming newcomers to inspiring seasoned runners, Gina has left an incredible mark on TRC.

Gina, we’ll miss you massively—but you’ll always be part of TRC. Good luck for the future!

It’s been a minute 😅 but I’m committed to this project despite a mini unintentional break.

PSA that solo dates are really fun and we should all be doing more of them!

I’ve always thought I’m quite an independent person. But there’s so many things that I still haven’t done on my own. I.e getting out of your comfort zone and going to a gig solo. Going to gigs is one of my favourite things to do ever and I thought that most of your experience depended on who you went with. Turns out, it’s absolutely not. Solo gigs are amazing. Thoroughly recommend anyone doing this! You choose your own spot, you don’t have to worry if the other person is having a good time and it’s genuinely so liberating to do something purely for you 🤩

A day late because yesterday was a really low MH day for me 🧠 I’m trying to commit myself to moving as much as possible (but not to a detriment) to keep my brain ticking along and I’ve actually loved getting back on the bike after such a long break. I found RideLondon (a 100 mile cycle) really quite tough to recover from so have struggled to get cycling again. In the event I had some really savage weather (after I’d handed all my wet weather kit to a friend 🫠) and doing the whole thing along meant I had to dig really deep. I’ve been on 3 ‘longer distance’ (10 miles +) in the last 10 days and I’m so happy to be back on 2 wheels 🤩🚲

Routine is so important to me and also having purpose. Giving blood has been part of a consistent routine for me since 2018. I’m such a preacher for donating if you are able 🩸 it costs nothing but your time and you really make a difference to people you don’t even know in the short window you’re there. To me it’s kinda free endorphins where you also get *FREE SNACKS* 🍪😋

Saunas, cold plunges, some towel swinging and a dip in the Thames 😅 I’m praying I haven’t caught something 🦠😂🌊

Big ups to @sweheat.sauna for having us on Saturday, we were paying customers but did get a little discount 🤩

Erm this is terrifying and feels like I’m exposing myself in big way.

Introducing… Upwards ⬆️

I’ve always loved watching people’s content so decided to finally bite the bullet and started making my own. A little series documenting my journey to feeling like ✨me✨ again through fitness and trying to find joy 🫠

For those who have been following for a while, you’ll be seeing more of me on here 🫣 and anybody who might be new (lol if anybody actually decides to watch or follow) and if you do, I hope you enjoy the journey 📈

Seven years ago today, I completed my first ever 5km and I’ve never looked back 🥹

I love that @parkrunuk marks my runniversary and was the first step of my running journey - and still is! So grateful to the wonderful community who turn up each week to make the events each week possible ✊🌳🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️

Berlin Marathon and a brain dump 🧠🇩🇪🏃🏼‍♀️💭

I came with a goal of hitting 4:45, it was a big ask. Bigger than I could have imagined as I haven’t been on ‘top form’ recently. 2024 has been a weird year for me with some really low lows. I’ve been battling deep feelings of inadequacy and my confidence has been rock bottom.

For context, in the early part of the year, I was made redundant from my job of almost 5 years. It was a job I wasn’t happy in and had been looking to leave for some time, so to move on felt right. During my time there, I worked under a manager who pummelled my already fragile self belief in the workplace. I thought that once I had left I’d be able to build myself back up, but turns out things really stick with you. Imposter syndrome has got me in a chokehold and let me tell you, it’s damn hard to shake off. It’s been quite some time and I’m still no way near to having myself ‘back on track’ in a ‘professional’ sense and as a result I’ve felt shame and shut myself off from people, cocooning when things have gone wrong and with each time I’ve tried it’s been harder to pick myself back up.

Running has always been important to me, but this year it’s been a rock. Having the structure of training for this marathon has been so invaluable to my brain, kept me going and given me some much needed focus.

I left it all out there on the streets of Berlin, from mile 16 doubt was creeping in and I fought so hard to finish. A 24 second PB might not seem like much, but crikey it means a lot. Those seconds represent that no matter how hard things get, that I have strength, resilience and that determination will get you through this (lolz my little motto) ✨

Four marathons in and I’m still learning SO MUCH about myself. You go through the wringer in those 26.2 miles and you come out a changed person each time, I’m sure of it.

I can’t make sense of why I have belief in myself to run marathons, but feel so fragile in putting myself out there in other aspects of my life!?

If you ended up reading this far, woweeeee. I’m feeling a little embarrassed now but thanks for sticking with it and I’m not sure what else to say, but thank you 🥺 taken in BERLIN-MARATHON by @georginaruns
