Tucking into America’s greatest culinary export (the Crunchwrap Supreme) on this fine day to celebrate a new track out with @smiling_phases !

I’ve been loving tracks that feature more organic instrumentals vs proggy robot sounds, stuff like AIR or random 90s Balearic house tracks than have guitar / piano but also electronic elements. So with this track it was about using as much real instrumentation as possible, starting with the main organ loop and then some clav and piano sprinkled throughout! I also just bought a beastly weighted keyboard which has lead to more piano playing fo sho

Smiling Comp Vol.1 🍃 — While summer is already in full swing, we have compiled the perfect soundtrack for your sunset or sunrise parties. Here is Smiling Comp Vol.1, featuring 8 tracks that reflect our influences, ranging from Balearic and progressive to electro and trance vibes, created by local and international artists we’ve encountered on our travels.

The compilation opens with a progressive piano track by Breezy S, evoking a nostalgic vibe from years before we were even born. « Insomnia 92 » is followed by « Some Magnetic Way » by Geo Taguchi, capturing the perfect Balearic summer mood. Next is Doublure with « Looping Loop, » a close friend who once again proves he’s a top-notch electro producer.

Some of our co-founders are also featured in the compilation, each showcasing their unique talents: « Call It a Day » by Arvè highlights his electro and rock inspirations, while NairLess makes a striking return with « Celestial Infinity, » ideal for an afternoon in Tisno for those in the know.

We then enter peak dancefloor euphoria with the progressive « Spellbound, » the debut release from Eclectic Elektra! Aiden Francis needs no introduction; his energetic « Pomona Beach » definitely sets the tone for an endless summer. Finally, our dear friend Shader perfectly closes this compilation with « Nighcrawler, » leading us into a trancey and nostalgic atmosphere until the end of the night.

A cool thing happened last week where @erisdrew featured a track of mine (Deep Blue off COY005) in her latest ‘Mystery of the Motherbeat’ mix and wrote some nice words about it ❤️

I would highly recommend listening to the full mix and the accompanying journal entry, which is an amazing exploration of more downtempo and emotive tracks over 140bpm slammers. I’ve always struggled to make faster, club ready tracks; and while electronic music does center around making people dance, it’s cool to see the slower and more introverted end of the spectrum getting some love.

As fate would have it Eris was also playing alongside @octoocta in NYC that same weekend, and it was a real sweaty privilege (first slide) watching them in action for 6hrs. Love to em both ❤️ by @geotaguchi

Story time! A couple of years ago I went back to Tokyo for the first time in 10 years and found myself in a little club called @mitsuki_tokyo in Nakameguro. I’d never really heard music like the stuff they were playing in there, and it felt all the more special as I hadn’t really planned on going and had just tagged along with some friends I’d made that night. It really inspired me to start making COY005 so when it came it naming the tracks it felt like a no brainer to call one ‘Mitsuki’.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago when I get a message from @__johnconnor__ saying he’s been playing the EP out a lot and at one club in particular - f***** Mitsuki!!

Anyway I’m really proud to be Japanese and I bloody love that country so this has made me very happy. Seeing all those Japanese faces dancing to one of my tracks is pretty mega. I’m pretty bad at social media but I thought this would be a nice thing to share - so he’s a lil vid of Mitsuki at Mitsuki!!

Been a whole 2 months since COY005 was released and thanks to everyone who’s been showing it some love! Pretty cool having some wax sold in the motherland too which is a nice lil life goal ticked off, shoutout mum for the sales push there 🫡

London friends come catch me and the @konbinikids_ldn crew over at @gipsyqueennw5 for the foreseeable, whipping up the usual Japanese food you can’t even get in Japan 🇯🇵 by @geotaguchi

☀️(Belated) Release Day ☀️

I was too busy being a dope and goofing in the sun to remember that COY005 was officially released yesterday!!!

From the google alerts I have setup for my own name I can inform you that you can grab a 12” online or in-store at @decks.de @junorecords @deejay.de @redeyerecordsuk @profile_music_melbourne and of course our trusty old friend Bandcamp to name but a few 🤠

It’s also been almost exactly a year since I first sent over the first demo to @ssstodorovic and @timodeeprhythms so it’s nice to see this one come full circle - Thanks to them once again for helping whip these into shape

Not sure it really counts as an announcement if you’ve already told every poor soul who’s had the misfortune of speaking to you in a smoking area BUT I’m very very happy to announce a new record coming out on Coymix, arriving June 8.

Can’t really thank @ssstodorovic and @timodeeprhythms enough for their guidance over the last year and a half (producers hit me with your workflow tips plz) and making a lil proggy kids dream come true ❤️

Yeeeeeeee gassed to announce that @konbinikids_ldn will be extending our residency at @roseandcrownnw5 until the end of April. Head down to Kentish Town’s best boozer for some half-Japanese scran and we’ll sort you out 🤝

In other news having not released any tunes for almost 2 years now and spending approx 7 million hours in my room sat looking at slide 4 I can ALMOST announce a new EP 🤠 My first bit of wax on what might be my favourite label…. nice to see it getting an early spin out too. After 6 lovely weeks at @nextdoorrecords_ , @konbinikids_ldn are gonna be stationed down at the vibey @roseandcrownnw5 until March - craft beer and Japanese food, what’s not to love. Throwing a launch party on Saturday 17th so come down if that sounds like it’s up your Strasse!

Before then I’m throwing down some proggy numbers for the @altered.perceptions bois this Thursday at @hoxtoncabin - last few tickets remaining and very excited to drop some forthcoming bits by @geotaguchi

80s ANIME SPECIAL ON @loose.fm TOMORROW 9pm

Inspired by a @kay_suzuki_music VA on @timecapsulesounds , @geotaguchi takes us through an hour of Japan’s finest 80s anime soundtracks.

Born in a time of economic and creative boom, production studios wrote blank cheques to secure some of Japans finest composers and producers - spanning jazz, disco funk and synth pop. The tunes are honestly insane - imagine Dua Lipa doing the Sesame Street soundtrack, that shit would be wild.
