The one thing ALL yogis struggle with?

The ego.

And it shows up in your yoga practice more than you realise.

Not as arrogance, but in quieter ways:

“I should be able to do this.”

“Why can they do it and I can’t?”

“I need to go deeper.”

“I’m not taking the easier option!”

“I’ll just push through the pain.”

Left unchecked, ego can keep us stuck in comparison, judgement and proving ourselves rather than actually paying attention to what we need.

Yoga gives us an opportunity to notice these reactions in real time.

Instead of responding with judgment and frustration, can you:

- fall out of a pose without criticising yourself?

- choose the option your body needs, even when the person next to you is doing more?

- back off when you know you could push further?

I’m much more interested in helping you develop that awareness than getting you into an impressive pose.

Because the physical practice is only one part of yoga. What you learn about yourself while doing it is even more valuable.

If you want to develop that kind of inner awareness, then my online classes are for you. Link in bio x

Ok chatty Kathy, I’m dying to hear how your dog slept weird last night, but I’ve got to lock down my unofficial designated spot before everyone else gets here 😰

Can meditation be harmful?

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: Yes, but… much of the risk depends on the type of practice you do, your personal history, and the experience of your teacher.

I’ve taken my teachings from the past 9 years and developed an online meditation course that will take complete beginners through to building a regular and safe practice that feels restorative and sustainable.

Comment or send me a DM to join the waitlist 🙏

Yoga, pilates, strength training, for every age, meeting you where you’re at. Our classes range from people aged 28 to 70+, guided by instructors who are highly skilled at meeting every level in the room.

There’s so much noise out there about what health and fitness is supposed to look like.

For us it’s less about pushing harder and more about prioritising the things that actually improve how you show up in your life!

When I say “the choice is always yours,” I mean it.

Yoga for every body is at the heart of how I teach. I genuinely love seeing you:

* use the wall for balance
* modify a pose to suit your body
* grab the props
* challenge yourself when it feels right
* slow things down when it doesn’t
* close your eyes and tune into felt sense
* take Child’s Pose mid-sequence
* Savasana your way through half the class (if that’s what you need!)

Yoga isn’t about making your body fit a pose. It’s about making the practice fit your body.

We all arrive on the mat with different bodies, histories, energy levels, and life experiences. Our practices *should* look different.

More than anything, I hope you leave my classes feeling seen, welcomed as you are, and supported making choices that work for you 💛

Asana (the poses) is just 1 of 8 limbs of yoga. Yet we fixate on "perfecting" them at the expense of the other 7 limbs:

* restraints
* observances
* breath/energy control
* sense withdrawal
* concentration
* meditation
* bliss

It's easier to measure progress when it's external. It's a lot harder doing the internal work (spoiler alert: that's where the profound growth occurs 🙏)

Is there anything you'd add or change to these slides? Anything specific you're working on? by @geritheyogi

This birthday ritual has completely changed how I think about life.

Every birthday, I fill in another 52 squares on my memento mori calendar. Each square represents one week of an average human life.

At first glance, it seems a little dark.

But yoga teaches us that life is made up of opposites. Yin and yang. Light and dark. Expansion and contraction. Life and death.

We spend so much time chasing the yang (doing more, achieving more, planning further ahead) that we often forget what gives those things meaning in the first place.

Recognising our mortality is the yin. It's a quiet reminder that our time is finite. It's precisely because life doesn't last forever that today matters.

For me, this isn't about fearing death. It's about appreciating life.

Every black square is a nudge to spend my weeks on what matters most; to love deeply, stay curious, be present, and stop assuming there's always more time.

Sometimes, the best way to learn how to live... is to remember that it doesn't last forever.

How would your life change if you could see your remaining weeks laid out in front of you? by @geritheyogi
