I’d like to reintroduce myself and share a little more about what I do here ✨😊

I’m Jacque Smith, a nutritionist based in Kansas City. I’m passionate about making nutrition simple, realistic, and sustainable, and helping people step away from all-or-nothing thinking with food.

I help people build a balanced, sustainable approach to nutrition rooted in consistency, education, and realistic habits — not restriction or extremes.

My philosophy is simple: all foods can FIT. There’s no all-or-nothing approach needed, and progress doesn’t require cutting out the foods you enjoy.

Nutrition should support your life, energy, and performance — not take away from it. The goal is to feel good in your body while still living your life fully.

Whether your goal is performance, fat loss, body composition changes, muscle building, or overall health, my approach is realistic, structured, and maintainable.

I’m happy you’re here 🤍 by @get.jacd.fit

Calories matter. But they’re not the whole story.

Yes, a calorie deficit is required to lose body fat. But reducing nutrition to “eat less, move more” ignores how your body actually works.

Your body burns calories through:
✨ Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) – keeping you alive
✨ The Thermic Effect of Food (TEF) – digesting and absorbing food
✨ Exercise Activity (EAT) – intentional workouts
✨ Non-Exercise Activity (NEAT) – walking, fidgeting, cleaning, standing, and everyday movement

These are all parts of your total daily energy expenditure, and they’re constantly changing based on things like your body composition, activity level, sleep, stress, hormones, and even how long you’ve been dieting.

That’s why sustainable fat loss isn’t about eating as little as possible. It’s about supporting your body while creating a strategy that you can actually maintain.

Calories are one piece of the puzzle, 🧩 not the entire picture. by @get.jacd.fit

Creatine is one of the most researched supplements available, and for good reason.

It helps your body produce energy during high-intensity exercise, which can support strength, performance, recovery, and lean muscle over time. 💪🏼

Emerging research also suggests creatine may help support brain health and cognitive function, with studies showing potential benefits for memory and mental performance, especially during times of increased mental demand.

26 ended with mountain views, fresh air, good food, and making memories in Colorado. 🏔️✨

I enjoyed the trip, stayed active, ate foods I love, and came home without feeling like I needed to “start over.” That’s the goal. Build habits that travel with you, not rules that fall apart the second you’re out of your routine.

Here’s to another year of helping people find balance, fuel their bodies well, and enjoy life along the way. 🤍

Thanks for being here and following along. Cheers to 27! 🎉 by @get.jacd.fit

Supplements can be a great tool. They’re meant to fill nutritional gaps or support a specific goal, not replace a balanced diet.

When choosing a supplement, don’t just trust the front label.

Flip it over and look at:
✨ The active ingredients
✨ The dosage
✨ Third-party testing
✨ Minimal fillers and unnecessary additives

Not every supplement is worth buying, and not everyone needs the same ones. The best supplement is one that’s high quality, evidence-based, and fits your individual needs.

Remember: your nutrition, sleep, and daily habits will always be your foundation. Supplements are there to support, not a replacement by @get.jacd.fit

A little protein, a little produce, a little convenience, and a few foods I just enjoy. 🛒❤️

That’s what most of my grocery hauls look like.

As a nutritionist, I don’t spend hours wandering the grocery store looking for the “perfect” foods. Most weeks, I’m buying foods that help me hit my protein & fiber goals, get more fruits and vegetables in, make meals easier during a busy week, and still leave room for things I simply enjoy eating.

You’ll find staples like Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, turkey, chicken sausage, fruit, salad ingredients, and sourdough. You’ll also find convenience foods, chocolate milk, chips, and a few fun drinks because nutrition doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is thinking healthy eating has to look perfect. In reality, the best grocery haul is one that supports your goals and fits your lifestyle. If the foods you’re buying are so restrictive that you don’t enjoy them or can’t stick with them, they’re probably not serving you long term.

Healthy eating isn’t about creating a perfect cart. It’s about creating a realistic one.

Consistency will always beat perfection. ✨ taken in Kansas City, Missouri by @get.jacd.fit

Hydration is about more than just drinking water. 💦

Sodium and potassium are two key electrolytes that help regulate fluid balance, muscle contractions, nerve function, and overall performance. As temperatures rise and sweat losses increase, replacing electrolytes can become just as important as replacing fluids.

Common sodium sources:
• Pickles 🥒
• Broth
• Cottage cheese 🫕
• Salted foods
• Electrolyte products

Common potassium sources:
• Potatoes 🥔
• Bananas 🍌
• Avocados 🥑
• Beans 🫘
• Yogurt
• Leafy greens 🥬

The more you sweat, the more your hydration needs may change. Hydration isn’t one-size-fits-all—your needs should match your activity level, environment, and sweat rate. 😅 by @get.jacd.fit

Your training should evolve with your goals, your lifestyle, and the season of life you’re in. ✨

A few months ago, my focus looked different. Right now, my goal is staying strong, moving well, building durability, and keeping my body healthy as I get back into playing more volleyball and becoming more active overall. 🏐

Sometimes progress looks like:
• prioritizing recovery
• eating enough to fuel performance
• staying hydrated consistently
• improving mobility & movement patterns
• building strength that supports your daily life
• getting quality sleep
• training smarter instead of just harder

Your body can’t perform well if it isn’t properly fueled, recovered, and taken care of.

Fitness is more than just intense workouts — it’s nutrition, hydration, recovery, stress management, movement, and consistency working together over time. The “hardest” workout isn’t always the best workout if your body can’t recover from it.

Your goals are allowed to change. Your workouts are allowed to evolve. And progress doesn’t only count when you’re drenched in sweat or pushing yourself to the limit every session. 🤗
