QUALIFYING AS A HYPOPRESSIVE TRAINER ISN’T THE END OF YOUR TRAINING.

It’s really just the beginning.

At IHC UK, we don’t want you to qualify, get a certificate and then be left on your own wondering what to do when a client doesn’t quite fit the textbook.

Bodies are complicated. Research changes. Our understanding changes. And the more people you work with, the more questions you’re going to have.

That’s exactly why we created our IHC UK Teacher Membership, CPD Programme & Instructor Portal.

For ÂŁ99 a year, our teachers have a place to keep learning, revisiting and developing.

Inside the portal you’ll find our growing library of resources, teaching support, pose and technique information, recordings and material you can return to whenever you need it.

But the bit I’m probably most excited about is our CPD programme.

Throughout the year we bring in people with different areas of expertise to take us beyond simply learning more Hypopressives.

We explore things like:

✨ Pre & postnatal health
✨ Hypermobility
✨ Strength & conditioning
✨ Endometriosis
✨ Trauma, the nervous system & release
✨ C-section recovery
✨ AI and how we can actually use it in our businesses
✨ And, of course, deeper dives into Hypopressives itself.

Because if we’re working with humans, we need to understand more than one method.

You’ll also be part of our IHC UK teacher community, with ongoing support and our teacher WhatsApp group - somewhere to ask the awkward questions, share experiences, troubleshoot and learn from other instructors.

And importantly, this isn’t about collecting CPD certificates.

It’s about staying curious.

Keeping your knowledge current.

Questioning what we thought we knew.

Becoming a better teacher.

And having a professional community around you while you do it.

Whether you’ve just completed Level 1 or you’ve been teaching Hypopressives for years, there should always be something else to learn.

IHC UK Teacher Membership ÂŁ99 per year.

Come and learn with us.

By combining specific postural alignments with targeted thoracic breathing and an apnoea, the hypopressive technique significantly reduces intra-abdominal pressure.

This reduction in pressure creates an automatic, reflexive lift of the pelvic organs. Rather than forcing you to consciously squeeze or brace, it reprogrammes the resting tone of your core and pelvic floor, ensuring your body automatically manages the heavy physical demands of your sport

Awareness starts with conversation

As hypopressives Trainers and Master Trainers, part of our role goes far beyond teaching the technique. We want to raise awareness, share knowledge and help more people understand the potential benefits of Hypopressives and their place within women’s health and wellbeing.

That means taking the conversation beyond our training spaces and into places where more women, health & fitness professionals can discover and learn about this approach.

It was fantastic to have the opportunity to talk about Hypopressives on the radio with Health Mary, a women-only health and wellbeing app connecting women with female practitioners, and to help bring greater exposure to a method we are so passionate about.

Every conversation matters. Every opportunity to educate matters. And the more we talk about Hypopressives, the more we can build understanding, curiosity and awareness around what they can offer.

Our mission within the International Hypopressives Council UK is to keep that conversation growing.

Let’s get people talking about Hypopressives.

THE DIAPHRAGM IS NOT JUST A BREATHING MUSCLE.

And if you teach Hypopressives, understanding that is fundamental.

The diaphragm sits at the centre of an extraordinary conversation between breathing, pressure, posture and movement.

It has relationships with the ribs and sternum.

The spine.

The abdominal wall.

The pelvic floor.

The heart.

The oesophagus.

Major blood vessels.

The nervous system.

And the organs sitting immediately above and below it.

This is why our Hypopressives training doesn’t stop at:

“Breathe in.”
“Breathe out.”
“Do an apnoea.”

We want our trainers to understand what they are looking at, what they are influencing and why different bodies may respond differently.

Over the next 12 weeks, we’re exploring the diaphragm piece by piece through The Body in Conversation: The Diaphragm Series.

Because good teaching isn’t about memorising cues.

It’s about learning to think.

If you’re looking for Hypopressives training that asks you to understand the body rather than simply reproduce a technique, take a look at our training pathway.

Gymnastics and trampolining subject the body to extreme gravitational forces. When you land, the downward force on your pelvic floor can be immense.

This repetitive stress often leads to pelvic floor dysfunction and stress incontinence, even in elite athletes. Hypopressives train the core to manage this pressure involuntarily. By practising low-pressure postures, you draw the pelvic organs up, creating a stronger, more resilient support system for heavy landings.

What if Hypopressives weren’t another niche qualification…

…but a framework that changes how you understand breathing, posture, pressure management and movement?

Our teachers come from a huge range of backgrounds:
• Pilates
• Personal Training
• Yoga
• Strength & Conditioning
• Women’s Health
• Rehabilitation
• Manual Therapy
• Breathwork
• Performance Coaching

Because once you understand the principles, you begin to see opportunities to apply them everywhere.

If you’re the kind of coach who loves understanding why movement works, not just what to teach, our training was built for you.

Where do you currently work: rehabilitation, fitness, sport or movement education? Let us know below.

Did you know that stress incontinence affects a significant number of women in high-impact and heavy-load sports? It is a common issue, but should not be normalised.

High-impact movements and heavy lifting place intense downward pressure on the pelvic floor. Over time, this can lead to leaks during training or competition. The good news is that you do not have to quit the sports you love. Hypopressive training offers a targeted, low-pressure way to restore function and keep you active.

At IHC, we do not train instructors to simply memorise poses and repeat cues.

We train thinking trainers.

Trainers who are curious.

Trainers who notice connections.

Trainers who question, explore and look at the whole person, not just one isolated section.

The Paula Method proposes that circular muscles around the eyes, mouth and pelvic outlet may influence one another.

The science is still emerging and mixed, so this is a conceptual illustration, not proven anatomy.

But that does not make the idea unworthy of exploration.

Try scrunching your eyes while keeping your jaw relaxed, your breath moving and your ribs expanding.

What happens through your lower abdomen and pelvic floor?

Do you feel a lift?

A tightening?

Nothing at all?

The aim is not to teach eye scrunching as a new pelvic-floor exercise.

It is to develop better observation, deeper curiosity and stronger clinical reasoning.

Our training is for people who want more than a certificate.

It is for the thinking trainer ~ mind and body.

Are you feeling pressure “down there”? Like something is heavy, dragging or bulging? - especially after standing for a while?

You’re not imagining it. These sensations can be signs of something called pelvic organ prolapse - when the pelvic organs shift lower due to weakened support structures.

It’s more common than you think, and many women experience these symptoms without ever being told what’s really going on.

Here’s one simple way to feel some relief:

Lay down, feet up, and place a pillow or two under your hips. Then focus on lateral (side to side) breathing - gentle, calming breaths that help reduce the pressure in the pelvic area.

This position gives your body a chance to reset. It’s a small shift that can make a big different, especially if you’ve been on your feet all day.

You don’t have to just “live with it”. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and there is support available.

The school summer holidays can be a tricky time to maintain a practice but just like fitness training or meditation - you’ll really appreciate the benefits when you do it regularly 💪🏻💗

Often when things have improved, it’s easy for clients to forget where they once were until symptoms start creeping back in again, such as getting up to use the bathroom in the night, back pain or that feeling that you daren’t jump on the trampoline - just in case…😳
Things may look different or feel slower over the holiday period but consistency is everything and even just a few minutes to create your own restorative hypopressives habit will make all the difference. You matter. Make time for yourself.

Restore your posture, core and pelvic floor and get back out there living and loving life again 💕
