so much of the wellness industry keeps selling us another supplement, another program, another temporary bandaid. even community can start to feel like a coffee, a Pilates class, and then being sent home to figure the rest out alone.

living with chronic illness has made me feel that gap deeply. i love movement and a coffee with friends, but i’ve needed ongoing support, education, and people willing to ask deeper questions. trying to find that for myself is a huge part of why Moonfed exists today.

i want to help bring practices like yoga, meditation, and breathwork back to their roots, to learn from their original purpose and the cultures they come from. these practices held meaning long before the expensive add-ons. the practice itself was enough to be valuable: something to return to, learn from, and carry through life.

Moonfed is my way of creating spaces where that learning continues beyond the event. where you leave with resources, relationships, and practices you can keep returning to as you navigate your own well-being.

if you’ve been looking for this kind of community, join us November 1st at our next gathering through the link in bio🧘🏽‍♀️🌑🌀✨🌱

A love letter to moving, breathing, and learning in community:

and to the women who have made that community feel like home.

Elena, Ashley, Lia, Ab- thank you for your endless generosity, support, and encouragement. for making room for me and Moonfed, giving me opportunities to bring these ideas to life, and believing in what i’m building even when i’ve struggled to believe in myself.

Moonfed is here because women like you have lifted me up. because you’ve shared your spaces, your knowledge, your time, and your trust. so much of what we shared at phase two began with that kindness.

to everyone who came, especially the Empower community i’ve gotten to know and love: you’ve become such a meaningful part of this journey. i’m constantly inspired by you, and getting to learn, breathe, and move alongside you makes building Moonfed feel all the more special.

phase two was a chance to share something i care deeply about with people who have given me so much.🫶🏽

scenes from healing pt.3 lmfao i wish yall couldve seen me in that coffee shop after i spilled my drink i think i black out😍 also reminder that when u make plans w ur friend who’s chronically ill, it takes so much effort and preplanning and sometimes pushing through physical pain even for simple plans. getting ready, figuring out food, assessing an hour before whether we’ll have the energy/strength to be there, actually getting there, and recovering afterward can take more than u realize. so please be thoughtful about canceling last minute or changing plans, and understanding when they need to. they probs planned their whole day around having enough energy to see u. literally when i know im going to see a movie w my brother theres a million little steps i make sure i do beforehand so i can go w him and thats my job for the day. it’s a full-time fucking job on top of everything else we have going on!!

ALSO thank u @fodyfoods for bringing sauce, spice, and flavor back into my life😭 anyone who knows me knows i oversauce and overseason the shit out of everything. eating low fodmap on top of being vegan and gluten free has made my options feel so limited, so getting to switch up my meals and flavor combos means SO much. i just want to finish a meal and feel mentally satisfied so thank Fody for allowing me to do that!!

Something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately is how wellness became something we’re constantly told to buy instead of something we actually practice. Especially at wellness events.

Somewhere along the way, the goodie bag became almost as important as the experience itself. What products are we getting? What supplements? What samples? What’s in the tote?

And don’t get me wrong, I LOVE putting together thoughtful gifting for Moonfed but that should never be the reason you come.

The real “gift” should be leaving with something you can actually use again and again.

So much of what we now call wellness comes from ancient practices that existed way before supplements, expensive routines, wellness products, or an industry convincing us we constantly need something new to feel better: Yoga. Breath. Meditation. Mindfulness. Movement. Connection. Learning how to listen to your own body.

You don’t have to reorder those when they run out.

That’s a huge part of what inspired Phase Two: RETURNING TO ROOTS.

Instead of just coming, taking a yoga class, grabbing your gifts and leaving, we’re actually sitting down with Lia Stiles to learn about the roots of yoga, how these practices have been Westernized, and what it looks like to bring them back into our everyday lives.

And then we practice together.
Because imo, sustainable wellness isn’t about having a cabinet full of things that make you “well.”It’s learning practices that become so natural and repeatable that you can keep coming back to them for years.

Of course there is a time and place for medicine, supplements, products, etc. But I think we’ve created a culture where we’re constantly looking for the next thing to fix us instead of also asking what practices we can build into our lives for the long term.

That’s what we’re exploring at Phase Two 🌙

actually so nervous to post this omg but anyway im typing this as im currently trying not to throw up from the few blueberries I had today with my heating pad on!

after years of pain, my recent diagnoses of SIBO and a hypertonic pelvic floor, alongside celiac and other diagnoses, sparked this series.

for me, this new diagnosis (likely with more to come) feels like the opposite of relief. another diagnosis means starting over again. new treatments, appointments, more trial and error, uncertainty, after years of already trying to get better. it’s not like this gave me a solution.

instead of feeling closer to relief, it felt like the journey has gotten longer, and im being asked to begin again when i was already exhausted. honestly, i’m losing hope. we don’t talk enough about how exhausting it is to keep trying when you’ve been sick for years, or the trauma and PTSD that can come with being dismissed by doctors, invasive appointments, misdiagnosis, being misunderstood by people i love, or used to have in my life. grieving the life i envisioned and coming to terms with what isn’t possible right now or maybe ever.

i miss the everyday things i imagined for my 20s. having a close group of girlfriends, spontaneous plans, graduating with my friends, HAVING A FUCKING BOYFRIEND like wtf. most days i don’t know how to navigate that grief.

i’m starting a long form series on YouTube to share the ins and outs of this process, the appointments, treatments, uncertainty, and everyday reality.

i don’t have a hopeful ending yet. but i hope sharing can spark hope in someone else, and help me find some too.

this is why i started Moonfed. i hope this series and the platform reach the right hands and push for more research, education, and holistic women’s healthcare. we deserve earlier answers, prevention where possible, and relief from symptoms we’ve been left to navigate alone.

for now, i’m sharing from where i am. my dms r always open if you’re going through something similar and just want to vent or need resources/recs.

entering harvest 🌱🌝

fall asks us to gather what has grown, honor what nourished us, and return what we no longer need back to the earth.

and under the approaching full moon in aries, we’re being invited to bring a little fire into that reflection, to notice where we’re ready to choose ourselves, move toward something new, and stop carrying what has already run its course.

harvest isn’t only about what we’ve gained. the harvest is clarity. sometimes it’s letting go. sometimes it’s finally recognizing how much has changed.

as we enter this next season:
what are you harvesting?
what are you preserving?
what are you composting?
what are you ready to act on?

gather what nourishes you.
return the rest to the earth.

nourish your nature. return to rhythm. 🌿🌀

PHASE TWO: RETURNING TO ROOTS 🌱🧘🏽‍♀️

Announcing Phase Two on today’s New Moon in Virgo feels especially fitting! A moment associated with returning to our rituals, getting intentional about the practices that support us, and beginning again with greater awareness- exactly what Returning to Roots is about.

Before wellness became an industry, it was tradition. Ritual. Community. Knowledge passed down through generations.

On October 10th, we’re gathering @empowerstudiomarlton to explore decolonizing wellness & returning to the roots of yoga, looking beyond how these practices are packaged today to understand where they came from, what they mean, and how we can engage with them more mindfully.

After grabbing some coffee or matcha from the @helwaawii coffee cart, trauma therapist, yoga teacher & Reiki practitioner Lia Stiles of @centeredbodywellnessnj will lead a guided conversation with educational worksheets before bringing what we’ve learned onto the mat for an intentional 35–45 minute yoga flow.

What To Expect:
-Coffee/Matcha by Helwa Awi
-Guided worksheets & resources
-Intentional gifting from aligned brands (more details coming soon 😏)
-Open, guided conversation & yoga flow

More Details:
-OCTOBER 10 · 12:30–2 PM
-@ Empower Studio (plenty of parking!)

Tickets are available through the link in bio, or you can register directly through the @play.date.app!

A new moon asks us to begin again.
For Phase Two, we’re beginning by going back to the roots.
