What happens in my week? BLOODY LOADS. This is my week in less than 3 mins. A hell of a lot goes on the scene behind this but a little snippet into my life a little more.

What you’re not seeing is a lot of meetings and the ling days which is hard to show.

Generally Mondays are WFH days, Tuesday - Thursday it’s coconut collabs HQ. Friday its half coconut and half pod!!

I’ll learn to get better at these as I promised I would this year!

Not every customer review will be positive and that’s okay. Instead of hiding negative feedback, businesses can use it to understand what went wrong, improve the customer experience, and stay connected to what people really think. Sometimes, the most valuable feedback is the feedback you don’t want to hear.

Suri’s success wasn’t built on guessing what customers wanted it came from actually listening to them. By asking questions, understanding their needs, and continuously improving the product based on real feedback, Suri created something people genuinely wanted. Sometimes, the simplest growth strategy is to listen, care, and build for your customers.

What if the future of grocery delivery was actually hiding in the past? It can if its generating 60 MILLION!

That’s one of the things I loved exploring with Simon M. founder of Modern Milkman on the latest episode of Getting To Grow Podcast.

Simon took something incredibly traditional, the milk round, and completely rethought it for a modern consumer.

Reusable packaging.

Doorstep delivery.

Local producers.

Technology.

And a very different approach to convenience.

But what I really wanted to get under the skin of was what it actually takes to build and scale a business like this.

We talk about:

🥛 Why Simon believed the milk round could make a comeback

📈 What scaling a genuinely operationally complex business actually looks like

💰 The realities of cash, margins and building a capital intensive FMCG business

🚚 The challenges of managing delivery, logistics and customer retention

🛒 What he learnt about changing consumer behaviour

❌ The mistakes he made along the way

👀 And what he would do differently if he was starting again today

There’s also a much bigger question running through the conversation:

Can you take something people think is old fashioned and make it feel completely new again?

I loved this one because there are so many lessons that go way beyond milk.

If you’re building a consumer business, I think there’s a lot to take from Simon’s journey.

The biggest growth doesn’t always come from ads it comes from people who genuinely love your product. When customers find something they truly value, they naturally want to share it with the people they care about, turning word of mouth into a powerful growth channel.

Do sales agencies actually work?
How much do they cost?
And if an agency represents loads of brands, how can they possibly give your brand enough attention?

These were some of the questions we got stuck into on Tuesday evening when I took over raye the store for an intimate conversation with Charlie Knight from Plugin Brands and Edward Hauck from the The Curators | B Corp™.

And honestly, it was bloody interesting.

Ed and Charlie have worked together for a number of years, and you can see why it works.
Because the relationship isn’t simply:

“Here’s my brand. Go and sell it.”

Charlie doesn’t take on brands he doesn’t genuinely believe he can win for. There has to be a strong fit between the brand, the opportunity and the retailers or buyers they are trying to get in front of.

And that means the agency and founder are working as one team.

We talked about what a good sales agency actually does, where founders often get it wrong, how you know when you’re ready to bring one on, how the commercial model works, and probably the biggest question of all...

If an agency has 20, 30 or 40 brands on its books, how do you make sure you’re not just another brand in the pile?

Hearing it from both sides of the table was the really interesting bit.

Ed’s perspective as a founder who has actually built with Plugin alongside him, and

Charlie’s perspective from working with founders, buyers and retailers day in, day out.

No fluffy “agencies are brilliant” chat.

Just a very honest conversation about what actually makes the relationship work.

And from everything we heard, the answer seems to be partnership.

The right agency shouldn’t replace your sales function or just open a few doors for you.

They should become an extension of your team, challenge you, know your numbers, understand your ambition and, crucially, care about winning.

Big thank you to Ed and Charlie for joining me and to everyone who came down and asked the questions founders actually want answered.

More of these conversations please!!!
So... do they work? I guess you’ll have to chat to Charlie and Ed for this.

Huge thank you to Nicole Compen for the gorgeous space. by @gettingtogrow
