There are moments in your life that feel almost too big to fully process while they’re happening. Those nights, clearly designed by God.

This was one of them. ✨

Standing on the stage in that gold dress felt a little like my Mia Thermopolis moment. Between the incredible diamonds I was dripping in courtesy of Raz at Gnat Jewelry (that flower ring I have dreams about), the gorgeous last minute Nordstrom dress my mother grabbed as we walked in, to the honor of receiving the Ambassador Award, I was having a hard time believing I was actually there.

I wish I could bottle that feeling.

The feeling of being recognized by a community I deeply admire. The feeling of sharing space with storytellers whose work has inspired me. The feeling of having one of my best girls, my ride or die, my mom, by my side as my date for a night I’ll never forget.

I’m especially grateful to family - real, found, and creative who have poured into me and invested in me when it mattered most. Thank you specifically to Shondaland, whose belief in me has changed the trajectory of my life and career in ways I’m still discovering.

Thank you SeriesFest for this incredible honor, for championing emerging voices, and for creating spaces where storytellers can be fully seen.

That night I said in my speech, “For anyone who has ever been considered ‘other,’ there is space for you. And I will use this award as a torch to help light your path.”

A little late, but still very full-hearted about this one.

Grateful for the @shondaland panel at @seriesfest 💕

Moderated by the lovely Emily Vogel, and sharing the stage with some of THE best, Annie Laks, Marco Esquivel, and Jaffar Mahmood, was a total dream.

I was pinching myself sitting in a seat where I had watched one of my mentors and biggest allies, Tom Verica, sit years before. That’s why I had to take a photo of the audience, just to bottle that moment. I am living my dream because the people at Shondaland and SeriesFest knew I was ready, and because that lady in the second row, my mama, and a bunch of other folks, with and without my last name, never gave up on me. This blessing is not lost on me, and my gratitude to God is endless.

After the panel (where I hope good things happened because I blacked out 😅), I also had the chance to meet this year’s Women’s Directing finalists, and wow, was I blown away. I “joked” that I was grateful they waited to apply so I had a shot at it, but low-key I meant it. These women are coming in hot and taking over in the best way. Can’t wait to see what comes next for each of them.

I told them what I mean deeply: where I’m sitting now is exactly where they could be next year.

Because that’s the thing I hope people take away when they see me: it’s possible for you too. There is space for you. Keep going. ✨ by @giarayne

She went from biology class to Bridgerton ballrooms… 🎬💅🏽

In college, @giarayne was on the pre-med track… until she realized she was building a life that didn’t actually belong to her. Instead of signing up for O-chem, she packed her bags, moved to New York with roommates, grabbed a “money job” to pay the bills, and quietly started chasing the thing she really wanted: a life as a filmmaker.

I can’t wait for y’all to hear her story on this weeks episode of @brownambitionpodcast.
