We are heartbroken but know he is having the biggest party in heaven with those we have lost. My dad never wanted the party to stop, so this holiday season stay out a little longer and do something a litte wild.

Tom Pavelec died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. A 52-year resident of Hyde Park, Tom was a Research Scientist with Continental Container Plastics Research, retiring after 35 years. In retirement, he pursued his passion for real estate, opening TP Management in 1992.

Tom loved skiing, biking, gardening, running and anything active. A true Chicago fan, his devotion to the White Sox, the Bears and Chicago architecture was legendary. Forever a kid at heart, he believed chocolate was a food group, playing hooky was a rite of passage, and parties and dancing were essential to life. Eating, drinking and traveling brought him immense joy — especially visits to his favorite city in the world, Paris, France.

His love of the arts shone through his support of the Opera, Symphony and Theater, passions he proudly passed down to his children. Tom was also a devoted member of the Old Neighborhood Italian American Club.

He is survived by his wife, Georgene; his daughter Gigi (Joe) DaDan and Bill (Peg) Pavelec. He has four grandchildren, Lily and Will Pavelec and Annie and Joey DaDan.

As I reflect on my Aunt Jackie's passing, I am reminded of the profound impact she had on my life, and her unwavering enthusiasm for the holiday season, especially Christmas, continues to inspire me. In her loving memory, I've made a heartfelt exception to my rule of not decorating before Thanksgiving, and I'm rediscovering the joy she found in celebrating for as long as you can. As you decorate this season say a little prayer for her.

In her honor there will be a visitation at 11:00 and memorial mass in the chapel at 12:00 on November 28 at Franciscan Village/Mother Theresa House.

After months of going back and forth between the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Xavier University it is OFFICIAL! Joey DaDan will be attending Xavier University this fall in the Digital Innovation, Film and Television program/ Art & Animation. by @gigidadan
