On October 16, 2026, we commemorate the 15th anniversary of the dedication of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C. The idea began in 1983 with brothers of Iota Upsilon Lambda Chapter (@iul1906). Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. led the effort to bring that vision to life, honoring our Brother, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with a lasting place on the National Mall. The Brothers of Gamma Iota Lambda Chapter proudly celebrate this milestone and the vision, persistence, and collective effort that made it possible. As we reflect on these 15 years, we reaffirm our commitment to carrying Dr. King’s legacy forward through service, advocacy, and action. His vision calls us to keep working toward a more just world. by @gil1906

New faces. Familiar faces. A shared commitment to what comes next. This past Saturday at Brooklyn College, the Brooklyn Alphas welcomed our returning Alpha Academy students and introduced new students to the program. Special thanks to Justin Clarke, founder of The Ivy in Color (@theivyincolor), for sharing valuable guidance on preparing for college. From planning high school courses and getting involved in extracurriculars to telling their stories through meaningful experiences, students learned that preparation starts early and colleges consider the whole picture. We’re excited for another year of mentorship, growth, and community! #AlphaAcademy #BrooklynAlphas taken in Brooklyn College by @gil1906

This past weekend, five Brooklyn Alpha Academy students spent their Sunday immersed in Harlem’s art and history. We started at the newly reopened @studiomuseum, where museum staff gave us a dedicated tour. The students learned about works by Alexandre Arrechea and Nick Cave, then made their own art inspired by Nina Chanel Abney’s bold, colorful pieces. We ended the day on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd, where our mentees marched alongside the NYACOA Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. in the African American Day Parade. Seeing young people connect with culture, creativity, and community in one day is what this work is all about. GIL will be accepting 2026/2027 Alpha Academy applications until Friday, September 25th - the link to apply is available in our bio. #BrooklynAlphas #StudioMuseumInHarlem taken in Harlem, New York by @gil1906

BROS OF ΑΦΑ IN THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN DAY PARADE 2026 🖤💛 The Harlem Alphas, alongside Alpha brothers of the NY Tri-state chapters, were proud to participate in the African-American Day Parade, one of Harlem’s most celebrated traditions honoring African-American history, culture, community, and achievement. For generations, Alpha Phi Alpha has stood at the intersection of manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind. Our participation in this annual celebration reflects our continued commitment to Harlem and to the communities we proudly serve. As the Harlem Alphas celebrate 100 Years of Excellence, we remain committed to carrying the legacy forward and representing Alpha with Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind. 🖤💛 HARLEM ALPHAS — 100 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE 💛🖤 📸: @carlchisolm #HarlemAlphas #AlphaPhiAlpha #AfricanAmericanDayParade #AADP2026 #100YearsOfExcellence taken in Harlem, New York City by @gil1906

Twenty five years. On September 11, 2001, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. lost two Brothers: Bro. Calvin Gooding of Zeta Zeta Lambda and Bro. Christopher Scudder of Kappa Upsilon Lambda. Every year, as the bell is rung and their names are read aloud, we remember them. They rest now in Omega Chapter, and they wait on us. “Farewell Dear Brothers, transcendent art thou.” Today we honor their memory, and we stand with every family and every community still carrying this day. taken in New York, New York by @gil1906
