The 26th North American Ceramics Biennial closes Sunday, June 21.
I'm thrilled that "On the Count" traveled to Texas to be exhibited alongside so many gorgeous and compelling works. My continued thanks to juror @lindaganstrom for awarding it Best Abstract Sculpture.
I worked on this project for almost two years... piercing each of the 2000 pieces of clay 1000 times to represent the almost two million people incarcerated in the US... Tying them together by state... And then documenting the chains of ceramic pieces arranged as significant words, in view of federal, state and county detention centers across Indiana. I hope this is just the beginning of this work's travels across all 50 states and to Washington DC.
Thanks to the staff at @samfalove
for the care they took with the installation and for the photos📷. And thanks to @bigcarpix with funding from @warholfoundation for the Power Plant Grant that supported the completion of this project.
The museum is open Tue-Sun until 4pm, and until 7pm on Thursday. taken in San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts by @ginaleerobbins

FALSE Starts is an exhibition about picking up where someone left off, and finding inspiration along a path you may not have even known was there.
We're featuring a False Start Swap Table for visitors to select abandoned projects or sets of materials to bring home and use to create with. On FRIDAY, MAY 8, 6-10 pm @storagespaceindy will host a pop-up exhibition of our results. Everyone is welcome and all it will cost you is a bit of curiosity and your imagination.
See you Friday 1/16, 6-10pm,
Saturday 2/7, 2:30-5pm, or by appointment before Feb 7.
Storage Space Gallery
121 N 34th St, Indianapolis.

My heart is full. Last night I did a thing-- with the help of so many good people. I'm collecting photos from friends because the few for which I stopped talking to take, are hilarious bloopers. But here are a few pre-event gallery shots. I'm grateful to Brent and Michelle at @storagespaceindy for all they did to host and make the work shine in the space.... to @lilygroot @anishutup and @lizzie.bilbrey for pulling together the most lovely complementary exhibit, Closing the Loop, in no time flat... and to all the friends, old and new, who came out to support and participate in this False Starts idea (more on that soon).
If you missed it you can view the work by appointment (hit me), or at the closing reception Saturday, February 7, 2:30-5pm. taken in Storage Space Art Gallery 121 E 34th St Indianapolis, IN 46205 by @ginaleerobbins

Most of the time when something on the side of the interstate catches my eye, I think about it for a while as I continue on my way...
Then there are occasions that I come to a screeching halt, or as in this case, immediately exit the highway and get back on going the other way. I think of "Vulcan" almost as a collaboration with Sofiya Inger, whose delightful exhibition "Open" still filled my thoughts as I passed the ATV debris that became its face. Its name comes from the repeated warning on the hose that I cut into beads: "CAUTION RISK OF BURSTING."

Five of the Hope Balloons, my collaboration with IPS summer school students three years ago are stacked and poised to greet you at the entrance to Central Library for the next several weeks.
Thank you Mary Jo Bayliss for the opportunity to participate in your incredible social practice project The Village, and for the invitation to be included in its celebration. You can follow @andknits and visit the exhibition in the Yellow Room to learn more about The Village, and participate in the auction of existing panels to benefit local arts organizations.❤️ taken in Central Library - IndyPL by @ginaleerobbins

I'm back in Indy now but keep thinking about an exhibition of work by my friend @michelesilvettischmitt that is up at the @oakparklibrary through October 24. If you are in Chicago get over to see "Collected Moments." Michele's work serves as a truly special witness to her journey through each day. ❤️ taken in Oak Park Public Library by @ginaleerobbins

If you're in Chicago before Dec 20, please don't miss "If Emmett Till Lived: Freedom on American Ground" organized by Sarah Elizabeth Lewis and Reverend Wheeler Parker, Jr., Emmett Till's cousin and witness to his kidnapping. It includes three floors of photographs by more than 110 artists from MoCP’s permanent collection, inviting viewers to imagine and meditate on the years that Till missed.
It was 💯 worth the parking ticket.
I can't wait to spend more time with the @sarahelizabethlewis1 catalog.
