A window, work in progress.

I've been largely absent from painting the past year as running a business has taken over. But when I find the time in continues to be a therapeutic escape.

This is nearly finished and more to come.

Wonderful evening at the book launch of a friend and author @annfowerakerauthor 's latest book - featuring a beautiful front cover piece, accompanied by a rear cover image of an painting I did about 6 years ago.

I look forward to the read. by @gingerdave_paints

A final painting ahead of Drawn to the Valley next weekend - a lean into gold and the celtic but born from an idea that has been hanging in the back of my mind for a while.

I wanted to play with an axe head type shape but incorporate some knotwork and a few hints of Book of Kells spirals.

In future this may be the basis for something more complex, but for now it is ready for the Open Studios exhibition.

Oh yes! It is time!
After nearly 6 years in my current job I am stepping into something very exciting... A business with a former colleague.

I've worked with some amazing and really dedicated people in our efforts to save nature, and ultimately the world. But for several reasons it has become apparent over recent months that the path ahead is a different route to the same goal.

After a lot of fiddling around going back and forth, drawing, scrapping and redrawing I'm finally ready to get some paint going on this.
I'd hoped to have this done and printed up as a showpiece at @drawntothevalley Opem Studios in August, but we shall see.

It seems starting a business is all-consuming and the time has vanished. by @gingerdave_paints

Finished!

A bit of an experiment using textured acrylic paper which gives a nice finish and 'woven' look to the surface.

Also the idea here to create a series of words or names that then could inspire potential commissions at the upcoming @drawntothevalley exhibitions this year.

While I want to keep painting as something therapeutic for me - exploring the process and providing escape from work, perhaps there is a middle ground to be struck where some income can also be found...
