I was NOT prepared for how emotional Savage Heart was going to be. 😭 This might be the most emotional book I’ve read from Willow Aster, and the tears started on page one and basically never stopped.

Iris and Maverick grew up inseparable, along with their best friend Lincoln, until one devastating night changed everything. Lincoln was gone, Iris was blamed, and Maverick, blinded by grief, turned his back on the girl who had always meant everything to him.

Twelve years later, Iris is still in Ironwood, raising her son Linc on her own and carrying a secret that could change everything. Maverick has done his best to ignore her for twelve years, but in a small town, staying out of each other’s lives is impossible—and the hurt, anger, guilt, and buried feelings between them are finally starting to surface.

My heart absolutely ACHED for Iris. She endured so much while being judged by an entire town, and yet she remained such a strong, hardworking, devoted mom. Maverick definitely had some making up to do (and yes, I could’ve handled a little more groveling 😂), but watching him learn the truth and realize just how badly he failed her was so emotional.

And LINC. I adored that sweet boy. Watching his relationship with Maverick grow was one of my favorite parts, and there was one particular conversation between them that nearly finished me.

The history between Iris and Maverick made their romance hit so much harder. The feelings never really disappeared—they were just buried beneath twelve years of pain. Watching them rebuild their friendship, learn to trust each other again, and finally choose the future they should have had all along was so beautiful.

And once Maverick was ALL IN? Protective cowboy Maverick can stay. 🔥 And the spice?! THAT MAN.

Emotional, angsty, sexy, and full of heart, Savage Heart was such a beautiful story about forgiveness, healing, family, and finding your way back to the person you never really stopped loving.

Laura Pavlov served us GOOD with The Last Goodbye. A grumpy chef, his corporate enemy, a whole lot of banter, and a plan to date each other until they hate each other? Because obviously that’s going to work out perfectly.

Bass and Briar start firmly on opposite sides. She’s in Blue Sky Bay to convince him to sell his restaurant so her company can move forward with a new hotel, and Bass has exactly zero interest in giving up the life he’s built. But somewhere between the arguing, ridiculous insults, late nights, and an attraction they can’t ignore, McGrumpy and his Magpie decide they might as well have some fun while she’s in town.

Three months. No expectations. They’ll get each other out of their systems and move on.

Sure, guys. Sure. 😏

I absolutely adored these two. They’re both guarded, stubborn, and slow to trust, and they were so much more alike than either realized. Briar has spent her life believing that love eventually means being left, while Bass learned early to take care of the people he loves and keep everyone else at a distance.

But Bass slowly becomes Briar’s safe place. This grumpy, protective man falls HARD, and he shows her over and over that when he says he’ll be there, he means it.

And the BANTER. Their nicknames. The insults. The group texts. I laughed so much reading this one.

Add in all the Blue Sky Bay found-family goodness, and I never wanted to leave. Laura Pavlov creates small towns that make me want to pack my bags and move immediately, and this series continues to be exactly that for me.

Apparently all it takes is a grumpy, tattooed ex-con with a filthy mouth, a massive protective streak, and a habit of quietly showing up every single day to get my attention.

Once again, Brighton Walsh had me laughing, emotional, and completely invested in the people of Starlight Cove.

Maverick comes to town looking for the father who abandoned him and his mom. Instead, he finds four half-brothers who aren’t exactly thrilled to see him, Rowan—a tiny, smart-mouthed tattoo artist and single mom—and her three teenage boys.

And Maverick just…shows up.

He makes the coffee. He helps without being asked. He respects Rowan’s boundaries. He pays attention. And somewhere along the way, he becomes someone her boys can depend on, too. His relationship with Knox, Holden, and Crew was easily one of my favorite parts of this book.

Of course, Rowan and Maverick together are 🔥. The sarcasm. The banter. The tension. And Maverick Steele’s mouth? SIR.

But underneath all of that is a story about belonging, family, abandonment, and finding a home in people you never expected.

Declan probably isn’t losing his spot as my favorite Steele brother anytime soon, but Maverick? You made one hell of an argument.

Scoring Lessons was my first book by Yinn Quiros, and Wesley and Olivia completely won me over.

These two have known each other practically their entire lives—and have spent most of that time getting on each other’s nerves. Their dislike is LOUD, their banter is absolutely hilarious, and putting them under the same roof only makes everything more entertaining. Add in Olivia asking Wesley for a few lessons and a spicy little list? Yeahhhh, those lines were never going to stay uncrossed.

But Wesley Hayes was what really got me. Beneath the sunshine personality, jokes, and former-playboy reputation is a man struggling with severe anxiety and high-functioning depression while putting an incredible amount of pressure on himself. I related to him in a way I wasn’t expecting, and I loved the therapy representation and the care given to his mental health throughout the story.

Olivia is fighting her own battle after a relationship left her confidence shattered, and watching her slowly find herself again was one of my favorite parts. Wesley supports her without trying to fix her, and she becomes a safe place for him, too.

And the CHEMISTRY. The verbal sparring. The tension. The lessons. The moment they finally say “f*ck it.” DELIVERED.

Funny, emotional, VERY steamy, and full of found family, Scoring Lessons gave me so much more than I expected. I absolutely adored these two.
