Teaching Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution (CADR) as adjunct conflict educator is one of my favorite summer activities. These programs provide opportunities for students to develop strong, practical, skills in analyzing and responding to different types of conflict. The skills learnt are applicable in all aspects of life and will make you a peacemaker.

A sincere thanks to Pgpd for having me as a Conflict and Peace Advocate speaker at the last police academy graduation. It was an absolute honor to have had the opportunity. Thank you.

The American Bar Association declared the third week of October, “ABA Mediation Week,” in part building on the efforts of many other national, state, and local organizations, working to raise awareness of the importance of conflict resolution, promoting awareness of mediation, arbitration, conciliation and other creative, peaceful means of resolving conflict.
As part of these celebrations, yesterday I joined The Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office of the Maryland Judiciary for a day of learning, resource sharing, and connecting with colleagues from across Maryland at the 2026 Maryland Mediator Convention held at the beautiful Doordan Institute Conference and Event Center in Annapolis.
Chief Justice Matthew J. Fader opened the Convention with a reminder that the work ADR practitioners do may not hand down court opinions or be shared in public but creates results that for the participants are life changing.
The ADR arm of The Maryland bar association provided Convention goers with professional opportunities and resources materials. by @givingback_mercy

The United Nations. The UN remains the essential, one-of-a-kind meeting ground for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and human rights. Most times I share in the sentiments of Nicholas Kristoff in his New York times piece.. "The UN is Terrible, We need The UN". At times, I find the United Nations deeply frustrating. Its bureaucracy can be slow, complicated, and inefficient. But despite those shortcomings, I believe efforts by world leaders such as President Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Xi Jinping to further marginalize the UN would be a serious mistake.
The United Nations has played a critical role in advancing global cooperation and saving lives. Its work contributed to the child survival revolution that helped save the lives of an estimated 25 million children.
I have admired the courage and commitment of UN personnels working in some of the world’s most dangerous environments—sleeping in tents in South Sudan, running for cover amid violence in Yemen, and facing armed threats in the Central African Republic. Some UN personnel have been killed in the line of duty, while others have been detained or imprisoned.
The UN is far from perfect, and there is certainly room for reform. But its imperfections should not obscure the extraordinary work being done every day by people who continue to serve, protect, and advance peace in some of the most difficult places on earth. Weakening the institution without strengthening the international cooperation it provides could carry consequences far beyond the UN itself.

In the first few days of the 81st General Debate, last week, nearly 100+ global leaders delivered their message to the world. And I am proud to have been on the sidelines facilitating discuss that enhanced the message of peace and progress. by @givingback_mercy

Happy International Day of Peace!! Each year on September 21st, the world observes the International Day of Peace; a moment to recommit ourselves to nonviolence, understanding, and the belief that peace is possible.

Mine has been a mission of being a peacemaker building peace one person at a time, one case at a time. Over the years, I’ve worked with various delegations from multiple countries to teach conflict resolution at UN Affiliate events as part of the UN peace day celebrations. Speaking to groups regarding conflict competencies, mitigation of foreseeable conflicts and simply the act of empathy brings me a sense of playing my small part in making the world a better place.

At a time when so many across the globe are experiencing war, displacement, division, and uncertainty, may each of us remind ourselves and others in our lives, the need to believe peace is possible and that conflict even though necessary does not have to result in anarchy or pain.

Today, may we not only hope for peace, but consider what each of us can do to help create it. by @givingback_mercy
