Fall is making its appearance in Glacier Bay!
Enjoy these moody views of the Bay captured in the last week. Now that September is here, it's a good reminder to bring warm clothes when traveling in Alaska. Weather in the fall and winter months can be unpredictable, so be prepared with extra layers, a flashlight for dusk hours, and other essential safety gear.

You'll move mountains, kid! 🐐

Did you know, baby mountain goats are called kids? Mountain goats in Glacier Bay typically give birth to their young in May and June each summer. You'll often spot these tiny daredevils romping along steep cliffs, especially at Gloomy Knob, known in Lingít as Jánwu Aaní, "Mountain Goat's Land."

The name fits. Goats gather on its sheer faces year-round, where vertical rock has been polished smooth by thousands of years of glacier ice wearing away at its cliffs. Gloomy Knob rises over 1,300 feet straight out of the water, with some of the bay's deepest depths waiting just offshore, around 1,400 feet down.

Did your visit to Glacier Bay include any mountain goat sightings?

Slow down and watch the land breathe. Clouds drift, the muskeg greens, spruce and pine stand tall, and ancient mountains rise from the horizon.

Even in the temperate rainforest, the sun does shine! Last week we were treated to sunny skies and warm temperatures on a glorious early-June day. #TimelapseTuesday
