If you sail by Gloomy Knob in @glacierbaynps you might be lucky to spot a coastal brown bear as we were 🐻 be sure to take binoculars on your trip or a good camera lens if into photography. This is shot at 600m and the closest we could get; which gives you an idea of the scale! 😍

Grand Pacific Glacier used to meet Tarr Inlet on the left side of this photo. Now it has receded into Canada.

A Jagged Bergy Bit - Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska

Bergy bits are the smaller chunks of ice that have broken off from a glacier, and Glacier Bay National Park is full of them near the glaciers! This particular bergy bit was one of the most unique bits

"Fuzzy Arms"

I'm still thinking about these mossy trees in Glacier Bay! I captured this along the boardwalk section of the forest trail in the park.

We have been away for a bit but are currently waiting for our 9:05pm flight back to Phoenix. We spent the last 7 days on an Alaskan cruise and saw and did some amazing things. Baby orcas, baby black bears, seal, tons of otters and humpback whales. Not to mention a plethora of bald eagles! Alaska is breathtaking!

Traveled to Alaska for 9 days & it was the trip of a lifetime.

🚁Took 8 flights, 3 boats, sea kayaked & canoed to a glacier.

🐳Saw 22 Humpback Whales, 8 Puffins, 4 Bears, 1
Orca, 1 Wolverine, Sea Otters & Eagles Galore.

🎨Witnessed my best gal Kelsey become a Junior Ranger, made some art & met some amazing people.

AK, you are the bigger state in so many ways & I am so inspired✨Thank you to all who made my journey wilder than I could’ve imagined.

Sandy beach by Nolan S.
(Poem on a Juneau bus, selected for the youth category, 2022)

The calm cold waves
The sharp rocks and
crystal clear waters
The tall trees of the Tongas forest
the bears
the wolves
the people of this land.
Gastineau Channel and Sandy Beach
the whales, the orcas, the tram
This is my home.
