Celebrating new Cathy McCormack Community Activism Fund (CMCAF) awards through our participatory grant making process!

1st Sept was the last of our participatory grant making co-design workshops. The final workshop reviewed all the recommendations across the 5 workshops, to achieve a final endorsement from the group.

The initial 5 years of the CMCAF saw funds distributed to groups local to the Glasgow Community Energy (GCE) solar PV school sites. Beyond this period, GCE was keen to develop the fund to make it an open grant funding stream for the city.

The participatory grant making process meant working with community groups in Glasgow to design how the CMCAF should operate in future years.

As part of the process, each group applied for a grant award of up to £3,000 to test the application and scoring process they had designed before making final recommendations.

The CMCAF Funding Co-Design process was incredibly worthwhile, generating a positive experience for participants, and gives GCE confidence that the fund can meet the needs of groups in the city.

We also recently announced a new community membership offer, where anyone in the Glasgow City Region can now join for £1. Our membership puts power in the hands of the people, ensuring the energy transition is a change that everyone can be a part of shaping. Becoming a member of GCE also means you become an owner. All of our members have an equal say in shaping the organisation.

🎉 Love Milton hosted for our fourth funding co-design workshop for the Cathy McCormack Community Activism Fund. They welcomed us with an abundance of food and generosity!

🌞Between workshops 3 and 4 the team each applied to the fund and scored each other’s applications using the processes they designed. Our focus for workshop 4 was collectively scoring the applications and reflecting on the process.

👍The pilot has been generating lots of great learning! We're looking forward to our last session together in September.

🎉 @hos.communitycentre hosted for our third funding co-design workshop for the Cathy McCormack Community Activism Fund. They welcomed us at their amazing Community Centre, sharing rolls, pastries, fruit and even some homemade cake!

🎉 This week the amazing Solidarity Souperheroes hosted the second funding co-design workshop for the Cathy McCormack Community Activism Fund. They welcomed us at their Love and Solidarity Community Hub in Castlemilk, complete with breakfast to fuel our discussions!

🎉 Last week we kicked off our series of funding co-design workshops for the Cathy McCormack Community Activism Fund.

🌞 This participatory process will see future fund development informed by the expertise, experience and input of those who we would like to see benefit. The co-design team is made up of community members who are active in different types of community groups and voluntary sector organisations across the city.

📍Connect Community Trust kindly hosted the first workshop and East End Flat Pack Meals provided a delicious breakfast. We shared, laughed and discussed what the fund should address and how we should make decisions. All captured by graphic illustrator Clare!
