Rest, recovery and reload: new shunt, new perspectives 🧠🌞 22 head staples to the skull for 2/22, but what a difference emergency brain surgery on your birthday can make. Thank you most to my hero caretaker @yesevan and all of my friends who dropped everything and were (and always were) there for me. Special shoutout to @anna.wiig for creating a masterpiece out of a weave monstrosity and from looking like a mangey animal post-surgery. As much as I try to make radical optimism a hallmark of my personal brand, I can say 2025 will not be a year I look back with a lot of fondness for. While there were profound moments aplenty and tremendous blessings I have deep gratitude for, it felt like a never-ending drip of dysfunction. From death, theft, a bolt in the head and countless buffoonery behind the scenes amidst all those big blows, it was existing on a pendulum of purge and persecution. Yet, as I take inventory of what lessons this year was trying to teach me and what it means for the path I need to carve for myself in 2026, the biggest centre of gravity and clarity was always right in front of me; even if it couldn’t always be with me. MY FRIENDS. I don’t come from a big, “traditional” family, but the massive blessing of that is my love and energy isn’t beholden to performative obligation, but genuine intention. That said, my friends are my FAMILY. I don’t know if it was intended to be complimentary or condescending, but someone once called me a “friend collector”. It’s true (for those who earn it). I now wear that statement as a badge of honour. Even in the chaos, my greatest reality is I am the product of an incredible, global collective of wildly eccentric, irreverent, intelligent and empathetic souls. All of you (and you know who you are) are still the truest beauty in all the everyday bullshit; especially in a year where the bullshit relentlessly knew no bounds. So here’s to 2026, making good on starting some much-needed new chapters and kicking some big bucket list barn doors wide open; fully knowing when I look back as I step forward (and maybe sideways) the constant will still be the people who were always in my corner cheering me and ecouraging me to be BIGGER, not smaller. I say with a full chest I have no interest nor intent at this stage of my life or in the year ahead to be the latter, as it’s the former which got this small town kid from Tennessee with a funky brain (and his fair share of hurt and pain) this far. So here’s to family. Let’s keep making more good noise and trouble together. Here’s also to a new year of getting bigger, braver, bolder and LOUDER. by @glennebert

PLEASURE THROUGH THE PAIN 🤌🏼💥 🇮🇹 Pictured here: a personal best while getting battered at the world class @riminiwellness and an absolute ace second act thanks to @hyroxitalia . NOT PICTURED: months of fine tuning, including focusing more on leg strength training and lifting, but a plot twist via a throbbing headache which came on 3 days before this race. I find it ironic that my first #hyrox I used to raise money and awareness for the @hydroassoc only for this one to have to push through it personally. Last Thursday I woke up with an unusual, noticeable headache, and by Friday once in Italy, was getting worse. I almost pulled out of this race, but on Saturday (and feeling mostly better) I mustered up the courage to smash through it and somehow a personal best. I am never one to back down or quit (often at my own detriment), I had a moment on Run 6 of pure gratitude and emotion where I shed a few tears during my run; mostly for being able to do this but in the notion this might be my last big fitness event I get to do this year. Like your life, your body is tremendous gift and tree that must be nurtured through different seasons, but you are ALWAYS capable of more than you know. Massive Thank you to @hyroxworld for creating something so wonderful in this community and experience, and now it’s time for a break, a reset and for a new season where I tackle new challenges. taken in Rimini, Italy by @glennebert
