Aloha in Action! Previously Project Shaka

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

PROJECT SHAKA IS GOING GLOBAL! 🤙🌎
What began in Hawaiʻi as a program based on a simple gesture grew into a movement featuring the SHAKA, A Story of Aloha film 🎥, the Shaka License Plate and getting the Shaka declared Hawaiʻi’s official state gesture. And yes, education, community programs and Acts of Aloha too.

We dubbed it “Project Shaka” and it showed us what can happen when aloha is put into action.

But now, we’re taking it to the world.

Project Shaka is becoming GLOBAL ALOHA — a movement born in Hawaiʻi and now shared everywhere.

Through films, education, experiences and community action, we’re working to bring more kindness, connection, service and aloha into everyday life.

Project Shaka isn’t disappearing. It’s still our local Hawaiʻi program—and the spark that started it all.

But now, from Hawaiʻi to the world 🌺🌎
please welcome Global Aloha! 🤙

We lost a dear family member today. I first met Taka because he had created a famous Shaka topiary bush in his front yard and I was making a film on the Shaka gesture. Turns out he learned the art form in Milan after WWII. And I soon learned that he was one of 6 remaining 100th Infantry Battalion veterans still alive. In fact, he was the one 100th veteran who showed up publicly at events for 80+ years, so as we created a film on the 100th, we became friends and family together. I learned that he was one of the greatest in the Greatest Generation. They were truly spirits of amazing valor and heroism. Taka is my hero. He lived an amazing life of contribution, giving and legacy. He will not be forgotten and his memory will surely serve as an exemplary for generations to come. God speed Taka and thank you for sharing your life with us. ❤️ 🙏 🤙 by @globalalohaorg

Mahalo to East-West Center for hosting a special test screening in French subtitles or “THE 100TH, Seeds of Aloha” for Seb, Sylvie and Allan Roure, the Kuroda Ring Ohana from France 🇫🇷. Their generosity proves the aloha spirit is global and survived even the most difficult war in human history. #aloha #alohaspirit #100thfilm taken in East-West Center by @globalalohaorg
