In November 2025, more than 1,000 artivists gathered for the Second Global Artivism Convening in Salvador, Brazil, with hundreds more joining virtually, representing 86 countries worldwide.
Building on the momentum of our inaugural convening in South Africa, we convened one of the largest global gatherings of cultural organizers working at the intersection of art, and social justice. The 2025 convening strengthened global cultural infrastructure, expanded transnational collaboration, and accelerated the role of Artivism in movement building worldwide.

Artivism isn’t just protest.

It’s storytelling.
It’s culture.
It’s care.
It’s imagination.

Here’s what our global community had to say at last year’s convening.

What does artivism mean to you?

As we continue reflecting on the conversations and connections we formed from our Europe and Africa Convenings, we’re turning the spotlight to the incredible speakers who helped shape these spaces.

@kitti.baracsi was our fellow for the Europe Regional Comvenings and we continue the reflections with her on our Instagram live about what resonated, what challenges them and what we all will be carrying forward from these spaces.

“We shall learn to lead in love.”

In a world that asks civil society leaders to fight, resist and disrupt, perhaps one of our greatest lessons is learning how to lead from a place of love.

Not love as softness, but love as courage.
Love as solidarity.
Love as a commitment to people, to community, and to the world we are trying to build.

May we learn to lead in love. ❤️🌍

Got plans for November? Bring them with you.

A performance already in the works? A gathering you’ve been thinking about? One poem you want to put into the world?

In one month, Global Artivism Month begins.

You don’t need to go bigger. You don’t need to start again. Start with what you have, where you are, and make it part of the global picture.

November starts soon. Will we see you there?

When the right people get into the same conversation. Ideas move. Questions get bigger. Things shift.

And the Global Artivism Regional Convenings are where we get into it.

What’s working. What’s getting in the way. What we’re learning from each other. And, most importantly, what we can build next.

Different regions. Different realities. Plenty to talk about.

Come with your ideas, questions, practice, and your perspective. Come ready to listen, share, challenge and imagine.

We’ve got a seat for you.

To my fellow artists, artivists, cultural practitioners, organisers and storytellers across Africa, we invite you to join us for Artivism Baraza 2026.

From 29 September to 1 October, we are holding the Global Artivism African Virtual Regional Convening, creating a space where we can come together, share honestly, listen deeply and learn from one another.

Bring what you know, what you have tried, what has worked, what hasn’t, and the questions you are still carrying. We hope we can use these three afternoons to make new connections across our continent and think together about what artivism in Africa needs right now, and what we can build next.

Please join us, and invite others in your networks who should be part of this conversation.

Art should do more than hang on a wall. it should start a conversation. 🕊️💚

What is P3? @pen_piece_peace_planet

Pen a Piece for Peace and Planet (P3) is a participatory art installation that began with a simple, inexpensive piece of a big size 4×4 white fabric bought for just ₦2,000 ($2) and turned it into an evolving global canvas.

Individuals are invited to sign, leave written messages, or draw art directly onto the fabric, pledging their commitment to peace, inclusion, and climate resilience.

Why does it matter?

Behind every major movement is a shared commitment.

With over 300+ physical signatures gathered so far, P3 serves as a visual reminder that building peace and protecting our planet are collective efforts.

The goal is for millions more to continue adding their voices, turning a modest piece of cloth into a powerful, living movement for a sustainable future.

Honored to share that Pen a Piece for Peace and Planet was awarded the Bronze Award at the Youth Social Art Award (YSAA) 2026!

Add Your Voice:

Whether in person or online, your message matters! Leave your pledge, signature, or message for peace and planet in the comments below, or sign the canvas at our next exhibition stop. by @globalartivism
